well, this thread's been going for a long time, time to update.
1. I'm still a pharmacist.
2. I'm still a bi-vocational pastor.
3. My hobby of bread-baking made me fatter, so I won't be turning that into a profession.
4. I'm now doing woodworking (along with rph and preaching) and will soon do a website or facebook page.

Trying to transition out of pharmacy over time. I'm lumberjacking, if that's a word. Spellcheck says it's not, but so what? Trees that folks want cut from their yards or trees knocked down by tornadoes, I go and take them down and my sawmill guy comes in and we saw them into 1-2.5 inch slabs. The largest tree I've cut was a 53 inch diameter sycamore that was next to a friend's house. Pretty good trick using a saw with a 25 inch bar. I Let the slabs dry for 1+ years and build dining tables, coffee tables, accent tables, etc. I do river pours in some.
Also making lazy susans, cutting/charcuterie boards. Skull mount plaques. I have a lathe and make bowls and vases. I'm really excited as I'm about to saw up 2 black walnut trees, the largest was 36 inches wide at the base. I will let these dry 6 months and take them to a Kiln for proper drying. So, I should be making something out of this walnut next July.
Planning to try my hand at wood sculpting (not carving with a knife, but with tools) in the future.

I find my moments of zen when I cannot hear anything but the sound of my chainsaw or the hum of my sanders. no phone. no pharmacy. just me and my art.

I spent 33 years in telephony, retiring (just in time) January 2020. Now my time is spent in the woodshop carving or turning, or at the reloading bench, or building something needed, or simply enjoying the day and whatever life brings today. More time afield has definitely been a perk.
Seems retirement has rectified (mostly) my procrastination as I no longer have a need to put things off. Sometimes I wonder how I had time to go to work as the day often lacks enough hours to finish the project at hand. Good thing there's tomorrow ahead.

When I was hired, we were a small independent, El Paso County Telephone Co, wholly owned by US West. Unfortunately, that started to change in 2008 after Qwest acquired US West. Then it got worse when the deathstar acquired Qwest, lol. So officially, I retired from CTL. But even today, this area is very much a one-off from anywhere else in their system.

I was drafted out of Auburn University in 1986, went on to play a year and a half in A ball was promoted to AA in late 87. Started in AA in 88 stayed there until late in the 89 season when I was promoted to AAA . In 89 developed back trouble and retired after the 91 season. All in the Atlanta Braves organization.
