And you asked again without answer!

Means if you as the hunter ask for something he should be able to give you and he does not. Well then you should run far away and look for another outfitter.

It means stay away, especially since their are outstanding professionals right here who will be happy to supply you with tons of references.

BIG RED FLAG!!

If outfitter specifically in writing refused to give list of references, then, yes, a red flag.

But in case that he just did not reply to email, this can be for any other reason, possibly that he is hunting somewhere in the bush without any connections to internet. In this case I would give him some time to answer.

His first response was: do you need references for the people hunt with me or with my PH? and my answer was both.
Then no response at all.

I hope you have scratched this character off your list?

Any Outfitter worth his salt would not come back to you with such a question.

If there is a technical issue causing the delay in reply then perhaps some time is required.
Since the Outfitter did ask a clarifying question!

If you do not get an answer in a reasonable time then please note the earlier member replies.

I'm impressed the guy clarified and asked a better question. What references do you actually want?
Plenty of hunters get Outfitter references. The PH plays a rather large part in the success of your hunt.
Have you seen complaints about the lousy PH's? I have.

References:
(1) he's not going to give you any bad ones, so not sure what they are really worth.
(2) none to give, that's a problem
(3) could be he too busy hunting with clients to send.

Sorry, but the obvious answer is "BOTH".

He was dodging.

Edit: further to this line of thinking....if I want to know how the skinner, cook, tracker and maid are, do I need to specify?

Seems to me a reference will potentially address every aspect of the operation...they are inseparable and all important.

He was hesitant. Now I will questioning his references, if he provided any, I mean even the one or two references which I did not get yet may be not very creditable.

Good luck brother.

It is always best when you can get a reference from someone you know and trust.

That personal word of mouth kind of advertising/reference. Obviously limits your choices unless you know a ton of guys who hunt in Africa...like on AH!!! :)

You could spend hours reading trip reports here and get a pretty good feel for which outfits you might want to hunt with.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
