Westley Richards in .318

Guys, I don’t have much info yet but would appreciate thoughts on a rifle my gunsmith is trying to help sell. It’s a Westley Richards in .318. Based on photos and my Smith’s inspection, bore and metal are all in very good to excellent condition with no mods. Unfortunately the stock has been replaced with a reinhart fajen California style stock. If the metal proves out, what range of value would you place on this rifle once it is properly restocked to original pattern? I am putting the restocking at $3,000 based on other work I have had done.

I took a quick look at some Reinhart Fajen California Style stocks. Unbelievable that someone put one of these on a Westley Richards rifle!

Assume a 98 Mauser, probably surplus mil with thumb notch? Express sights? Whats the barrel length?

From poor photos, appears to be a proper British Rifle in original configuration (exc wood) on a Mauser action. I will inspect the rifle later this week.

The wood can be replaced. I’m looking for thoughts on value with a properly configured stock assuming that the metal is as advertised.

In all honesty, I will likely pass.

Rifle was ruined. Fajen stock and barrel cut at 20”. Nice action to start a custom build from but that was about it.
