Absolutely! It is in factory condition and not tampered with. They produced it that way by accident, so they will be fine with fixing it for free.

This is very interesting to know that Ruger will still do this work.
I had read on another forum of Ruger collectors that had this work done.
I called Ruger asking about this work, The gunsmith never called back.
I decided to keep it in original condition.
These are nice rifles.
Mine is used and shoots great.

FWIW, the MK II Express is on Ruger’s list of No Parts/Service. Still worth a call to see if the work being discussed could be done despite the stated website info.

It’s a simple machining process. The rifle is marketed as a CRF Mauser type action. Plenty of people over there will have remembered this issue and will remedy it!

Make a call and tell them that it needs to be corrected, don’t ask, just tell them it wasn’t designed as a push feed bu as Bill Ruger intended it to be!

Won’t machining off the semi-circular excess, and leaving a flat bolt face, at least on the bottom, result in a gap in the barrel/bolt face area where the case is totally unsupported? It’s only a few millimeters, but maybe that’s too much?

That’s how every Ruger M77 is built, just like the Winchester pre-64 and classic M70’s, the M98 Mauser rifles and the likes there of are made.

I owned one of these prior to 2004 and had the bolt machined by Ruger so it was actually a CRF Bolt gun as it was designed to be.

But not most M77 Mark II rifles. And I'm not aware of Winchester nor Mauser ever building a push feed with the large claw extractor.

I've actually never seen a Ruger M77 Mark II Express in 30-06 built this way before. And I own a few. The 270 versions yes. I've owned a few of those and they have all had that push feed lip.

All the Exp Magnums were CRF and the later Hawkeyes but the early Express rifles were not...at least the early ones. Beautiful rifle which ever way it feeds and its a 30-06 so no worries either way as i dont think you are staring down Black Death or any of the DG critters with it! LOL! I guess you could though! LOL!

Anyway, Beautiful rifle! Ill pass this along to a buddy as he collects these. I think 06's were one of the rarer calibers if i remember correctly, but would have to double check that.

Wow! I didnt think Ruger or anybody else would change their own factory built rifles do to liability etc. Could see gunsmiths doing it but the factory? Wow!
