I agree that the guy is proud of his. That's the highest price I've ever seen for a Savage Safari Express.

Yea, it's probably gonna be that or more if you can find one.

About a year ago I thought about buying a 300 winnie I saw to match my 458, but I didn't and I would've never thought there were 425's even manufactured by Savage, but you shed some light on that, which is pretty cool. I sure hope you find one.

Well, I found a guy on a different forum that said he has one ... I offered him $5,000 for it ... he declined, so ..... I suspect he really didn't have one after all. :)

Well I'd say you are correct that "he really didn't have one" with passing on that offer.

I had one of those ssvage 458 rifles just like that it was 6 3/4 pounds .I got it in clearance at bass pro shop for $350 .Its stock was super narrow I knew it would kick you into tommorow with that light weight and narrow stock .I kept it 4 years barely found one bag of brass was going to load it down to 45-70 levels and keep it .I never fired it just ended up totally going with 416 ren mag more versitle .I did buy another super grade 458 model 70 sold it but it took two years to sell each one of them.I would watch gunsinternational and gunbroker for a 425 not many of them .They do need a laminated stock I think with a little more weight and strength .I personally dont trust savage bolt actions had my 260 rem mag model 10 totally fail after I shot a Boone and Crocket class buck and the rifle refused to bolt .I trust Rugers weatherbys and winchesters mostly for hunting .I thought it would be an awesome 458 but it was way too light and the wrong stock that looked way to little to work .

If someone can locate a Savage 116 Express Rifle in 425 Express caliber for me to buy, and I end up buying it, I will pay a $1,000 finders fee. In addition, I will pay up to $5,000 for the rifle.

Wish that I had 2 to sell you. :)

@buckstix
I know it's not the same but you build an identical one for far less.
Bob

I could build one for about $1,000 .. but I want an original Savage ...
