Want To Buy Sako Bavarian in 6.5x55

perersencopycat, I know you were looking for a 6.5 X 55 in a Sako Bavarian, but have you taken a good look at the possibility of using a sporterized 1896 Swedish Swedish Mauser. They will shoot any load that the Sako will and at a substantial reduction in cost.

Thank you for the suggestion! I actually did consider this, and am in general keeping an eye out, but I really like Sako's so I am waiting. It's also hard to judge acccuracy of a sporterized gun, since they can be vary a lot depending on who did the sporterizing.

Are you after the Bavarian Rifle or Carbine? I have been looking for a carbine for several years without success. I did sporterize a Swede and it turned out ok.....the trigger being the main problem.....if I find a rifle I will send you a PM..............FWB

https://www.eurooptic.com/search?term=sako bavarian. They have a 7mm and 300 in stock.

The Swede is a great cartridge, mild mannered and wonderful. In the Bavarian I think the face slap of the 7mm and 300 would not be something I would enjoy.

I would call all the big distributors and see who has one. Like Buds Guns and so on.

Pedersoncopycat, I have about 15 1896 Swedish Mausers in my safes. Some have been given to grandchildren I just store them. The one thing that I haven't seen is an inaccurate one. The last one I acquired was one of the original 40,000 built by Mauser in their Obendorf factory in 1896. I posted a 6 shot sub-MOA group using that rifle and NORMA Factory ammo with 156 Gr. Oryx last year about this time. My collection covers the full gamut of their manufacture. From the oldest to the newest which were in fact built by Husqvarna. Every single one of them shoots as good or better than anything you'll find today. Send me a PM with your phone number and we'll have a nice long chat.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
