Tried to search in forums but did't find any info there.

Thanks Pard...........

Hey help us all out I've checked in to Jim Shockey out of my reach would love to get an Island Bear.

Hey guys, the hunt that I've been giving info on is not exactly an Island Bear hunt. What our outfitter has is access between the island and the mainland coast.. And all the islands between, this is a great way to see tons (quote from outfitter "usually 50 bears a day on good days").
That being said I've offered this hunt to a few people in the forum.. Hunts are done by 18ft boats then minor hiking, so also a very low fitness hunt. My goal is to put you guys on bears and there's not a doubt from the outfitter about not filling a tag.... Very good success rates on this hunt. Also there is a 20% chance you would get a shot at a black bear with a cinnamon or tan coat, these are very very rare on Vancouver island. There are sooooo many details with this hunt that are truly unique. I hoping I can get more interested to come and experience this hunt. We have a huge supply of refrences if anyone is serious about this hunt.

Another thing I might mention, is that if you we're to do a strictly island bear hunt, you will basically be driving logging roads and hiking. I myself live on the island, i dont know about anyone else, but i think driving logging roads can be very boring and makes it not very exciting. I could seriously write a few pages on the differences and benefits of the hunt im offering.... So please if you are very interested, make sure to email or PM me :)

Thanks everyone!!!

I would strongly suggest looking into the Muskwa-Kechika area. Having hunted both the island and northern BC (born and bred in British Columbia), the island can't hold a candle to the experience you'll have in the Muskwa-Kechika, widely dubbed "The Serengeti of the North". The bears will be in a similar size range as island bears. The scenery will be a hundred times better.

To reply to your original question...island bear hunts are not cheap, but if that's what you are looking for, I can personally highly recommend Trophy West Guide Outfitters (Trophy West Guide Outfitters). Hunted with them 2 years ago and had a great hunt. I believe they are the only outfitter on the island whose territory includes part of the mainland, in Knight Inlet across the Strait of Georgia. I can also recommend North Island Guide Outfitters (Vancouver Island Hunting Area & Seasons | North Vancouver Island Hunting Guides & Outfitters, BC Canada).

Thanks Arden for your input. I sent a PM

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
