So as a comparison, locally in Alabama that rifle would go for about $1200.
My recent #1 from my LGS was 458 win Mag, Tropical. I paid $1100 plus tax. It came from a collection and appeared to be unfired. A couple of small handling dings.
My brother just bought a beautiful #1 6mm for $800 at the gun trade show
No scope
He has a .243win #1 also and paid around $1200 w/h scope a few years ago
I believe the value is based on the caliber. I have a 275 Rigby stamped Ruger No.1 that I'm sure I can get some good coin for this rifle.
If you have pictures post them here and we may be able to give you a better idea on value. Now, if you take the scope off (assuming is a VX-3), you are now looking at $1300 rifle which is a great value. More info would help us help you.
Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
