USFWS Issues Permits For Lions From Zimbabwe and Zambia

Safari Club International has learned from hunting industry sources in Africa that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is mailing out permits for the importation of lions taken in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

"This is good news for hunters and SCI," said SCI President Paul Babaz. "We are extremely grateful for the work that the FWS has done to recognize how hunting in these countries enhances the survival of the species."

SCI does not have all the details about the permits being issued, but will update members as soon as more is learned.

What about Tanzania????

I’m hoping that the new Sec. of Interior and the new FWS director are the basis for shift in direction. Review the data, look objectively at the population and their age structures and then use hunters’ dollars to manage them.

I thought of Philip right after I posted, and kinda assumed he knows this already. Either way, fingers crossed for him and hopefully congratulations are truly in order!

I really do think this is what we are starting to see.

I didn't give Philip much chance when he took the lion. I was obviously wrong. It is a good thing that Hillary didn't win!

Three cheers for USFW!

I hope your reading this darren

It seems that congratulations are due to be spread around for many of you that have been waiting for some time!

Sounds like great news, hopefully it will lead to completely opening up importation of legally hunted trophy’s.

I will be checking my mailbox daily! Thanks to Conservation Force for working on this for me. Please consider a donation to them as they are a charitable org working for us.
I think my two cats can come home together now!
A dream come true!
Regards,
Philip

SCI doesn’t have all the answers but John Jackson with Conservation Force does! He is way ahead of everyone on this and everything else.

That's not surprising at all.

And great suggestion on making a donation to Conservation Force. John and team do their great work so quietly that it's easy to forget.

Waiting on a quote.... :D

Although.... Right now if I say "Lake Tanganyika" in front of the Mrs. one more time I'm much more likely to be lion bait, than a lion hunter. :A Banana Sad:

Got my lion permit!
