USA: Colorado Lion

Killed this nice Tom 12-30-22. I had hounds during my high school days but never took a lion for myself, still have friends that have hounds and was able to take this nice one with them. This was a lion tag for a reservation so I had set dates of Jan 1 2022 to Dec 31 22. During last winter we caught a few nice females but nothing to pull the trigger on. This winter there has been very very little snow, but I lucked out and it started snowing last week of December, spent two days cutting roads with no luck, snow stopped on the 30th and animals started moving around again. Buddy cut this Tom’s track at 10am started him at 11am and had him caught at 11:30. Very short race he was plum full of raccoon and sleeping in a drainage when we caught up to him. Very happy to add another trophy to my wall and memory bank! Also my brother was able to tag along for the whole hunt which I always love.

Stetsonham I am sooooo envious!!! What a grand time to spend with family! All my expensive cougar hunts came up dry. May be getting to long in the tooth to chase another on foot, but it sounds like yours was a very short run.
