Unexpected First Trip !!!

Thanks for the answers.
On US forms 4457. I know firearms are listed. But what about optics? Scopes on gun and binoculars.
You'll get two different answers on this. I play it safe and list the scope on the same form as the rifle. Binos, rangefinders, cameras, never did any of them. Guns are usually enough diversion.

I've never been asked about any other 4457 except the one for the firearm. If there is a possibility that you may change optics on your firearm in the future, probably be a good idea to just get separate 4457 for individual items. That just keeps the 4457 for the firearm "clean" and may minimize future potential for confusion. The 4457 is so straight forward and easy to get might as well separate. That would also apply to any other expensive pieces of equipment.

Rifle permits up to you and just $130 with www.riflepermits.com.
I just booked an RSA/Namibia trip with Steve with Travel With Guns and he got me a Ripcord travel insurance policy for $240 and it is also a disaster/evacuation policy. I could not believe what was there for the price. Global Rescue (I also have a policy due to the DG hunts and places I've been lately) also has similar policies so you can get normal travel insurance combined with disaster recovery insurance. This is all new to me but a very good option instead of an expensive membership. For the most part doing a PG hunt in RSA you do not need an evacuation policy.

Do you have his phone number or contact information? Going to hunt leopard in Namibia in July and would like to talk to him about insurance.

Thanks

Mark

The previous response did not post. I am going leopard hunting in Namibia in July and would like to get the contact information from the guy who helped you with the insurance. Can you give me his contact information?

Thanks

Mark

Congrats on winning the trip! I'm sure you are going to have a dreamy time in Africa!

Well, I am 35 days from departure for my first trip. Any last advise from the veteran hunters?
Leave June 6 Delta 200, even got row 29F seat!! Riflepermits has all paperwork and using there meet and greet. Travel Insurance and Global Rescue done. Have all gear I think I might need, packed and repacked several times. I have shot about 80 rounds with my 375 off sticks and feel good with it. Took everyone’s advise and been walking alot. I have dropped 38 pounds since February. Boots broke in good.
Target animals are warthog, impala, kudu, gemsbock, blue and black wildabeest, and Eland. May be a Zebra too if it all works out. Will see what Africa has to offer.

Sounds like you have done all the necessary prep work Mark. I think its probably time to lay back a bit, read a couple of books by Ruark, Hemmingway, or Capstick, and start to daydream about the incredible experience youre getting closer and closer to having..

Go have fun!!
