I asked because you said .308 above.

When I spoke to them on the phone initially they said they could do a run of the .311 when they did the .308 bullets. I don't know the specifics of their operation, but apparently the changeover to the different caliber is close enough that that's when they're willing to make them.

Guy at the range today gave me a partial box of Imperial 150 gr! What a coincidence.

Nothing fancy, just pointed soft points, bout half a box.

So far I am pretty happy with this rifle.

Don't know how the hell Imperials made it down there. You got the soft points mine are the sabre tip which is the plastic tip made long before all the other ammo companies started bragging about their new invention.

You see them from time to time, online especially. I have seen them before.

BTW, something to watch for. I discovered today a very fine crack in the finish if not the wood at the rear of the tang, its very tight there where it should be relieved. I opened it up a bit, and drilled a small hole for a small wood dowel to glue in.
Hoping I caught it in time.

Think its odd,no automatic ejector on it. Or a Farquasohn style action , as Selous used that ,and not a 1885 Win .

I dont think they meant it to be a replica of something he used, but rather used their own rifle, the 1885 and gave it a recognizable name and style as a selling point.

Yeah i think so also, but i habe shot a 1885,and i liked that automatic hammer cockig. Ive had a Nr1 ,liked that much,but wish the lever guard was different .

Having shot the Ruger No.1 for years, I am used to not having to cock the hammer, and find myself trying to pull the trigger on this rifle, and then remembering, cock the hammer stupid!
Takes a little getting used to, I also have some higher rings coming so should be a little bit more room under the scope for my thumb, both for hammer reach and pushing the rounds into the chamber.

Shot mine again today and it just gets better and better. When I had a Ruger No1 in .303 I found that a combo of 180gr Sierra Pro Hunters with Win 760 worked very well with charges up to 51 grs IIRC, which gave it about .308 Win ballistics.
Today I had a load with that powder and Hornady 174gr RN bullets seated to near the cannelure and they shot very well.
Groups were around an inch, a tad over or right at MOA, last group had one flyer with 3 touching, 48 grs.
Not unhappy I bought this at all.

Beautiful rifles and watching YouTube they are also doing one in 7x57 If my Italian translation is correct.
Would love one in my 25 cal with a 28 inch barrel.

It sure feels like a rifle that is a natural for stalking through thick stuff. I’ll try a Marbles tang peep I have also.

I spent an hour yesterday making a sight blank to fill where the factory rear sight goes, its an odd size, 5/8ths dovetail! Good luck finding one in that size, so I found a piece of mild steel, cut it to length, and slowly by grinding and filing, fit it to the slot, cold blued it and the ugly hole is now filled.
I have a Marbles tang sight so no need for the factory open sight. Aperture tang sights are much easier to get along with anyway.
