Okay gents, I am getting down to the real fine points on this expedition

So, with regards to trip cancellation insurance or basically trip insurance

They ask for a "price of the trip" and I am unsure how to value this

best as I can break it down is this way

Air fare

Day rate

Trophy fees

Other assorted Fees (gun, transfers, charters etc)

Dip and Pack

Ship

other insurance

Now realistically, if the world stopped, I would be out

Air fare
Deposit on hunt
various fees, insurance (guns, medevac ets)

Is that the value I insure for

just hard to figure what to insure for and of course what the carrier would pay for

I was thinking that the worst that could possibly happen is that you put a deposit down and fly over there and the PH never shows

Anyway, I sure would value some input and suggestion

Thanks

Insurance will reimburse the non-refundable prepaid travel arrangements, if you must cancel your trip before departure.

Your real world scenario is a little more likely to be covered.

look at the complete details on benefits, conditions, limitations and exclusions.

My favourite part, the small print.

Have fun shopping for insurance.

hmmm....shopping for insurance

wanna guess where that ranks on my list of enjoyable tasks

let's see I think

right behind an ice water enema

and just ahead of dinner with Nancy Pelosi

So is it a tie with an ice water enema given by Nancy Pelosi?

IMO considering how little they really cover minus deductables etc. on something of this value, insurance is a waste of money. Especially if you go on alot of trips, it doesnt take long for insurance premiums to surpass the recoverable amount of 1 bad trip.

After reading the fine print I think you may be right

Seems like trip insurance is kind of a mugs game

If you check things out as best as you can I think at some point you have to toss it to the wind and trust to luck

The real problem I see is that they ask you to value the trip and then price it based on that and then turn around and in the event of a claim pay only what they have to, after the deductible of course

Think I am going to pass

oh, and yes, an ice water enema give by Nancy Pelosi over dinner is pretty much a direct equivalent

I am at the point where unless I am legally obligated, financially motivated (home insurance) or I need to cover my a$$ Liability wise, I will not stoop to buy insurance.

i have an annual travel policy that covers myself, wife and son. this includes cancellations, medical, personal property, winter sports, and maybe things i cant remember. i think its about the equivalent of us$450.00. this is a lot cheaper here than buying for each trip , or even 1 winter sports holiday. fine print , the main one is they dont pay out if the problem is caused by an act of terrorism...

I totally agree with you!

I toke out insurance on my trip to Namibia. When I go back I will insure only the flight. I found out later that my health insurance covered me over there. The place I hunted at said when I come back just get the cheapest flight I can get and let him know. He said he could be real flexible on the dates. I could have been taken to a hospital alot quiker in Namibia than when I hunted elk in the Bridger Wilderness of Wyoming.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
