I'm seeking solutions to the problem of shortening/trimming excess neck length from .475 - .5" case mouths. I have a Forster and a Wilson case trimmer but neither are designed for cases larger than about .4" What's available for .5" case mouths?

I have an older lyman (black) accutrimmer (not blk anodized aluminum like the newer ones, but blk coated steel) that was sold by stating that any cartridge will fit in it (incl. the 50 BMG) and it came with a .50 trimmer. I don't have a .50 (.470 yes-and I've been taunted but resistant several times on nice .500 A-Sqs!) but I'll see if I can find it and IF I have two reamers for those calibers or similar, you can have the big one. Also, I'm sure this will work (or just the reamer) for your application! Finally, have you considered the tried-and-true press mounted trimmer? (Can easily be made by a machine shop out of the appropriate die body, if not!) Just set up to the appropriate length and file and or grind down to the die body. (Reloading equip. is at a fam farm and I'll be there this weekend.) GL! https://lewilson.com/50-cal-stainless-case-trimmer-kit?srsltid=AfmBOopgJW00BfJkk_r1iqliFyjwsqcFXRo5qRU5AJoPLA23Kt3wAiU6u

If I am remembering correctly, I purchased a replacement cutting head for my RCBS trimmer that was large enough to handle .510" cartridges (.495 A-Square). Just swap the cutting head. Maybe your cutter has a similar replacement available?

I found the answer. I have a Forster Original Case Trimmer. It has a head suitable for cartridges up to .458". What I need is a Forster Classic Case Trimmer that works on cases to at least .5". So looks like in addition to my Wilson and Original Forster I will be getting a Classic.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
