I watch with interest the left-handed rifles for sale with one sad caveat--my left handed brother has trained himself lifelong (even in the Marine Corp as a marksman) to cycle a bolt from the right side. Even he doesn't shop for left handed actions. I wonder how many people, growing up amidst a dearth of left handed actions have trained themselves likewise. Oh, he shoots lefty, just doesn't cycle from that side--doesn't seem to bother him.

I was taught the exact same way. I held a left handed bolt the other day, it felt unfamiliar, foreign even.
On speeds tests (the old TG18 training course all big bore course) I matched right handed shooters in speed and accuracy.
I have made peace with the fact that I have received a life sentence to right handed bolts
Best as always.

I sold the .495 A-Square I built while working there for this reason - it was the first time I was able to get a left-handed action. When using it for whitetail hunting I tried to reach over the top of the action with my right hand to cycle the bolt. Discerning that this would be "awkward" vs. a pissed off cape buffalo, I have never bought another southpaw action.

Sad. My youngest is right handed but strongly left eye dominant. I decided at an early age to help him by going staring to left handed guns. It has been costly (especially the R8!) but worth it.
lit is hard to say what is best for older folks

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
