What?I was told that a suppressor is not much good on anything over 375

My sentiments exactly, I'm glad to have taken the time to read through all of the posts. I have both my 375 Ruger and my 416 Ruger suppressed and I personally don't care what others think. I find it interesting that most of the "dangerous game double rifles" don't hold groups under an inch and a half at 50 yards (time for ALL of you double gun owners to tell me that "your gun" shoots 1/2" moa all day long}. Truth be told if "any" of my rifles in any of the calibers that I own grouped like that they'd be in the scrap pile.
I say do what you want as its your gun and the hell to what others think including me !!
Several PH have posted on this site that suppressors help them.A few more pages down the line.
You are still not going to change my mind my 375 H&H k98 original Musgrave is staying Supressor free so is my 458 Lott, CZ550.
When hunting I don't mind the noise and nobody else that can talk as complained I don't speak animal so don't know how they feel about it but normally when I get up close to them they are dead.
As for accuracy without suppressor I can easily do a ragged 5 shot hole at 50 meters with the 375 H&H and with the 458 Lott if I do my bit and concentrate on the SRO reflex sight I also do less than 1 MOA off sticks (4 legged) not from the bench.
@DWB has some serious groups going with his 404 Jeff, 450 Rigby (both with Aimpoints) and even now with open sighted 500Jeff.
For me it comes down to practise and the will to achieve a good posture and be able to handle bigger calibers. We are lucky that with our BASA shoots alone we shoot over 120 rounds of big bore per year then we still play at the range ourselfves and hunt.
When I was 18 and got my 375 H&H for the first time it kicked the hell out of me but you get used to it. Then the 458 Lott came along and I had to get used to it as well as it was a definite step up but you get used to it.
We see shooters with new bigger guns at BASA who normally shoot well have a dip in scores when starting out with a new bigger calibre then a few shoots later overcome the new gun and more recoil. Get proper ear protection to start with get a stock that fits you and start with average loads and work up.
I saw it with my boy and bunch of juniors at BASA if they can slowly work themselves up and manage it why not anyone it's just the will to try and do it. We have girls shooting 375 H&H and ladies even bigger guns the whole day long normally 18-20 per shoot.
Just Saying!!!
True, but I'm not a PH and prefer a real gun in my hands.Several PH have posted on this site that suppressors help them.
Right. But you said no one else has complained which just isn’t true.True, but I'm not a PH and prefer a real gun in my hands.
Yes, no one has complained thus far I don't need a PH to hunt in my own country but the few times I did there was no complaints.Right. But you said no one else has complained which just isn’t true.
A gun with a supressor is the same real gun.
If someone doesn’t want to use a suppressor that is cool. But to resort to “you ain’t a real man” shows the limits of the non suppressor argument.
All I hear is experience. Can you or anyone provide one example of someone using a suppressor on dangerous game and it causing problems?I think some people don't understand what we are trying to tell them. The topic is Suppressors on DG Rifles? and some of us warn that this can cause problems in certain situations. The use of suppressors for hunting PG is up to each individual, and I don't know why anyone of us would be against it.

There is a thread going here where people shot the wrong animal during African hunts. Would better communication with the PH not be a positive in dangerous game hunting?
My Blaser r8 suppressed is same length or less than MOST dangerous game rifles. So I can’t figure out how that would be a negative
I provided a detailed report on how a suppressor on a full size 300 Win Mag was an absolute issue simply trying to stalk roe deer from cover. I concluded I would never try it so armed on a buffalo. All I hear is experience. Can you or anyone provide one example of someone using a suppressor on dangerous game and it causing problems?
