I would like to suppress saur 100 in 9.3x62. I recently went to a competent gunsmith and he told me he did not have the correct tool to remove the barrel from the receiver. Before we had gotten that far he showed me a
Small thin nut that would have to be added for a “shoulder” for the can to sit against. Has anyone done it any advice. Hoping to get it threaded for young son and wife to shoot on our next trip. I’m going for Buffalo and had planned on taking my double and the saur 9.3 x62

How thins your barrel?

@TOBY458 What is the barrel device that is on your 30 06? That could be a possible solution.
Contact Jarrett Rifles in South Carolina. They can thread your barrel and install the correct bushing for whatever thread pattern you prefer. This is what @Hedge774 is referring to.

This is the end result.

I know what small nut you are talking about. I had to have one installed on my Ruger M77 mark II in .300 win mag to be able to have enough shoulder to suppress it. Most reputable gunsmiths should be able to do that job. As long as the gunsmith you find can thread the barrel the additional nut in the end is no issue.

I had Silencer Central thread my Sauer 100. they had to thread the barrel to 1/2x 28 and then I purchased a 1/2 to 5/8 adapter between the barrel and the suppressor. Worked great, a couple of Loctite on the barrel so the adapter would not come loose and away we go. they even included a thread end cap for the 1/2 x28 .

I'm guessing the barrel profile is thin for chosen thread pitch. Typically the smith will turn down a bit more metal, add a section of larger OD material and turn it down to make a "flare" as seen in Toby's post. Adding a nut would be a very crude way of accomplishing that.

Edit: here’s mine which I still need to blue to match the barrel.

Almost all Tikka barrels are too thin to thread at 5/8x24. So you thread to 1/2x28 and add an adapter to 5/8x24. I have a half dozen of them. No big deal. Just find a competent gunsmith.

I can recommend several, but all are in Texas. Tip Burns at Canyon Sporting Arms would be on the top of the list.

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?
