For several years (something like 20) there was the Superbowl correlation. during years that the Old NFL team won the Dow ended the year higher; Those years when the Old AFL teams won, the DOW ended lower. If Green Bay had gone to the SuperBowl we would have had a repeat of SuperBowl 1, Green Bay (NFL) vs Kansas City (AFL); but Tampa Bay wasn't even in existence when the SuperBowls started, So neither team would qualify as an Old NFL team. My guess is, with the way things are going, the DOW will end the year lower, and we can blame the NFL for sending two teams to the SuperBowl- neither of which are form the old NFL
