It's all personal preference!
It also depends on one's eyesight.
I prefer a mildot recticle and require a 3.5 minimum and like a max power minimum of 14 power with a 45mm objective for low light conditions. And for longer range and steep angle shots. You may be carrying your 458 as a one gun battery for buff and TIA a really nice trophy animal too good to pass on appears out of no where at 100+ yards and/or in the deep valley, or draw, below. Or after the successful buff hunt sitting in a raised blind, at night, 15 feet up over bait 13 yards from the blind and a bushpig comes out, broadside, at 8 +/- yards from the blind.
Emotional big game hunting. The closer it gets, the more afraid you become!14 power on a 458 win.........![]()

That's exactly what I have on my 416 Rigby, and on my .375H&H I have the Leupold VX5 2x10, illuminated reticle. The leupold Patrol with the fire dot is looking much more appropriate

Wow, that is bright. You’re right, stadia lines not too noticeable. Nice mule deer too!Highest brightness is daylight bright, very few illuminated reticles go that bright.
