Hey, I recently purchased a CZ 550 in 416 Rigby and have a SRO Red Dot In 5MOA at the house and was wondering if it's too big of a dot, I have used this sight for many 3 gun pistol competitions and have had no issues with it

A 5 MOA Trijicon SRO will certainly function on dangerous game rifle. On a sunny day in Africa, don't be surprised if that 5 MOA dot looks like 10 MOA due the in increased dot intensity required to see it!

For a PH where they may need to stop dangerous game up close and personal from stomping a client, a MOA dot would be great! For the rest of us, especially on a 100 to 200 yard capable rifle such as a .416 Rigby, I recommend a 1 or 2 MOA dot. Remember those dots grow in size as their intensity is increased.

All the above stated, mount the 5 MOA and safely aim at imaginary targets at 50 and 100 yards on a sunny day.

Good shooting!

I have a 6 MOA RMR and we use it on everything from a .416 REM to 505 Gibbs.
Have changed intensity at different times of the day at 100 yards and in. No problems.
It has a wide intensity range and glad I chose the larger option

Thank you I have the 5MOA sitting here so I figured I would try it

I've hunted quite a bit with an 3 MOA RMR (mostly for deer). I would not hesitate to choose a 5 MOA for buffalo. The most critical part of using a dot is seeing it when you need to!
If your eyesight is good and the dot is round for your eyesight then the accuracy can certainly exceed 5 MOA - just sight in to hit center dot.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
