Since hair-splitting is going on between the 338 win mag, the 9.3 x 62, and the 375 H&H let's do a calculation for the 9.3 as well... (Although higher velocity is possible, as with the 338 WM, let's use a conservative velocity of 2,350 with a 300-grain bullet for the 9.3 x 62)
Killing power = 3,678 x 0.320 x 0.134
= 157.7
338 WM killing power = 164.32 (When MV of 2,400 is used with the 300-grain bullet - many will say 2,450 would be more realistic)
Seems the 9.3 x 62 is trailing the 338 WM slightly....as it should be, due to lesser power capacity. For the same reason, the 338 WM is trailing the 375 H&H slightly.
Killing power is a valid practical and ballistic argument specifically for the first 150-200 yards, from there on the 338 WM will keep its velocity and energy better than the other two calibers due to its high BC.
It can be said then that inside 150 yards the 375 kills slightly better than the 338 WM, and the 338 WM is slightly better than the 9.3 x 62, but for the longer range kills the 338 Wm is the better of the 3.
Although this calculation is not perfect it is as close as one can get due to the use of MV, ME, SD, Bullet diameter, and consideration of BC for longer shots.
(The 375 Ruger is slightly higher in killing power than the 375 H&H and compares closely with the 338 WM over longer ranges to 500 yards).
