SOUTH AFRICA: First Time 10 Days In August With Pawprint Safaris

I am very glad the hunt was all you were hoping for. Next trip you can try and get a big kudu but sorry to say ryan may have you for life on kudu.

Looking forward to planning the next one and seeing your mounts when they are finished up.

Hahaha. Your probably right about the kudu Bill. But you know, I had to let him have something. That's why I switched gears and went after that waterbuck when I saw it. If I had gone and gotten a bigger kudu than Ryan, well, you could only imagine what I would have said in my next fireside interview.
Maybe we can catch up in Harrisburg. I've been really considering the idea of building some super heavy arrows if that tells you anything.

Wow James reading your experience sounds amazing! I am only in the planning stages of my first hunt and to read all of this Im PUMPED!

This is a great testimony for PawPrints and will have an affect on who we decide to use as an outfitter. Thank you for sharing the very detailed experience.

@Adam Panek read this!

Just bought my plane ticket tonight for my fourth hunt with Pawprint Safaris.

Jonathon,
Glad you enjoyed reading it. If your considering Paw Print, I am a obvious supporter of that idea. We harvested some very good trophies for the area, and were made to feel like family. For another perspective, rburg44 was there with my wife and I for the whole trip. He had one heck of a hunt as well, and wrote a report on here also. I'm sure he included a pic or 2 of his 59" plus kudu.

I do believe you both are planning a return trip with Paw Print also. Think ryan said his wife is coming this trip also to enjoy the fun.

That is correct Bill. Gwen and I are definitely planning on a return trip, as well as Ryan and his wife. Been spending record time in the trees this fall waiting on a wallhanger whitetail, but all the while thinking of building some heavier high foc arrows for my next trip with Pieter and staff.

Congratulations.

A quick update. I got my crate a little while back. Here is my Waterbuck, as well as my Vervet Monkey skull. Hoping to have my zebra skin soon, and sable to follow.

Nice! I really like having a skull from my animals.

who did the taxidermy?
Jan Els of Africa Alive Taxidermy did the Waterbuck in South Africa. The skull was done by Jerry Neiderer-Jerrys Taxidermy in Abbottstown PA. He is doing the rest of my animals and has been doing African
mounts for most of his career.

He looks great on the wall sir!

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
