So I built a Book/gun case

So it’s been a while since I updated this but here in Colorado Springs with the massive explosion of people moving here it’s dang hard to get any contractor as they are all booked out for up to years out!
Now the room is larger than the pic shows but it’s coming along and I’ll have the opposing wall book cases will be installed hopefully by the end of the month…
Anyway I just got the flooring in! And I love it!!!

Do you need the window? When I built my gunroom a window took up a significant portion of a wall like this. Fortunately, the exterior surface was hardy board, so removing it, splicing studs, re-siding, repainting was pretty simple. A window also represents a security risk where firearms are stored. That new wall space would give you room for some dramatic art or trophies as guests enter.

No I don’t need the window but I like it as it opens up the room. The room is nowhere near large but it’s not small either, I’d call it cozy at 18’ x 16’
The progress has been slow due to the fact that my custom wood working guy is booked years out and fits me in between jobs but the opposite wall cabinets are finished, here are pics of them…
A love seat will reside between them with a rifle display above. And there will be two cigar chairs under the window split by a small table between them that has my humidor and my H&H cigar ashtray sitting on top. That’s the plan anyway lol
I’ll post more pics as it finishes up…

These are full sized duplicates of the book cases on the main walI. Now I am going to furnish and hang artwork…
Next step is the rifle display between the two book cases shown here

Nice artwork ! Those should look great on the wall.

Very nice work CZ. You can’t have too many book shelves. Thank goodness my wife switched to digital books. We have gone through hundreds of books through the years. Donated, boxed them up and stored them. We still have them stacked in spare rooms and closets. Boxes in the barns. We display collectibles and the ones that we want to show off make to me look well read  my friends are not fooled.

But I am jealous. I wish I had walls of book shelves for storage.

Hi PaulB,
I have a Ballard Arms Model 1885 chambered for .333 Jeffery Flanged. Do you have any idea where I can get ammo for this?

I am new to this forum so I am sorry if I am doing something wrong!
Thank You!
