The snake post went good last year.
Ended up shooting 2 today.
Both rattler
One under the stock trailer
Cow did not want to load. I understand why and one in the hay field side of me.

We have had some stuff locally change a bit so I have been carrying a 45 instead of the 44.
185gr +p work as well as the 44 on them.

Fortunately, it was a cool morning. I looked down and it was 6 inches away from my foot.

I shot it eight times

As a big around as my bicep

Timber rattler

Grow em big down here in Southwest Mississippi

I came a foot from stepping on a rock python. I froze and loudly whispered to my PH, "Snake! Big ******* SNAKE!" He turned with a "what do you....OMG!" We measured the track later. It was 13" across. He said 3 to 4 meters long. So glad is wasn't venomous or scared. She never even flinched. She thought she was invisible. Lucky for me...

Or......hungry

Snattlerakes are easier to hit, with guaranteed results, using a straight bladed shovel with a well used, flattened off point. ;)

I can also recommend the M4A2 garden hoe. Generates both speed and kinetic energy.

44 cci rat shot works well
I might have to see if the 45 acp shot works as well

Damn a snake.

Kind of off topic a bit, but I’m going to throw it out there anyway, snakes and rodents go hand in glove. No rodents, not so many snakes. For livestock producers this is problematic. Horses/cows require vitamin and minerals for max health. The surest way to be certain that livestock are getting good nutrition is with a quality feed. Stored feed draws rodents, thus drawing snakes where one will stand a chance of being struck.

This is the company I get my horse/dairy/beef feed and trace mineral free choice rations from: https://totalfeeds.com/horses

I don’t know how they do it, but rodents are repelled by the smell. They won’t even gnaw through a bag. The animals love it and are in excellent condition, however.

Just putting it out there.

I use CCI shotshells in .38/.357 - works great.

I had to put down a rabid fox a couple of years ago with them, because that was all I had. It took two shots, but they worked at very close range (I stayed inside the car).

I was thinking about getting some shot "capsules" and loading them with #7 tungsten.

Thoughts?

That should be effective I would think.
I have no idea but will the tungsten hurt the rifling?
Looking at my nephew turkey choke today
It said lead only
I guess it’s because it’s so tight that might be a problem with tss and steel shot?

That stuff is harder than a wedding d?ck, I don’t think I would try it

The shot in enclosed in a plastic "capsule," so I don't think it would touch the rifling, but I'm not sure

We went to the worlds largest Rattlesnake Roundup today, in Sweetwater Texas. It was unbelievable! So much rattling at once it sounded like a waterfall from a distance.
I went to the one in ga years ago
Snakes got out not many.
Nope not again unless they let me shoot the lose ones

My dad had a buddy that Cought them for it
Little extra money.
Till one bit him and had him in the hospital for 4days .
Funny thing is the snake was dead when he got back to his house.
He had dropped him in the snake catch pen.
All way though it was funny that the snake died told the old guy he needed to bathe more not to kill the snake if he got bit again

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
