Granite Mountain Arms African Magnum Mauser actions are my #1 favorite actions for dangerous game magazine rifles in the entire world.

Mike Roden was trained by the great American gunsmith, Fred Wells himself. Forged and as strong as they come. In my humble opinion, it's the only action that's 100% suitable for a .505 Gibbs build due to the correct sized bolt face.

I seem to remember the bolt face on the 505 is 3/4 of an inch . A monster action . Was the GMA action based on the Brevex ?

Very good, PCC600 ! It was based on the Brevex M400.

Those rifles are great! I believe even the vaunted, cool and awesome Mauser Magnum action's bolt face diameter is .700, the same as CZ 550, Win Mod 70, Dakota 76, Ruger 77. I'm not 100% on all of those so somebody correct me if I'm mistaken. The .750 diameter is nice for the handful of 505 Gibbs shown on this thread.

Thank you. Good work. Nice rifle, but a lot of unknowns. Unknown builder is the biggest question concerning actual value. You can buy a used rifle from a true great by Mark Bansner etc. for less than that on the secondary market. He does builds on GMA as well. I have a .375 RUM he built (Model 70). Even with the price distinction between GMA and model 70, I think you could do better.

Don’t think it could be done for less than 15k, with really nice chunk of wood 18-20k. Add to that there aren’t many guys I’d trust to do it, and it would take 2-3 years for sure.

Pretty sure they go for around 4-5k, seen some on secondary market for 3800

$3k GMA
$500 fluted barrel
$400 syn. stock
$800 Smithson rings
$1000 chambering.

$5700

No iron sights, no stock finish, barrel probably

came fluted, etc. really, just an assembly job?

My GMA # might be low for the general market.
