The Fraser MS rifle made and used by Pease for much of his hunts over Africa .

The gunmaker Fraser was he a distant relative of Simon Fraser family with their rifle heritage?

Daniel Fraser had also stocked a Mannlicher Schoenauer in 6.5x54mm for WDM Bell with a hollowed out stock, that weighed only 5 LB. Bell killed 12 bull elephant with it in one day, all with brain shots. But the rifle jamming caused him to lose a 13th elephant, at which point he gave it up.

Yes some of the bullets did not hold up from 6,5 . But it was also some split brass and pierce primers also he encountered with some ammo types . Which made him keep going back to the 7mm for quite some long marches

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
