Shims on bases?

Anyone using shims on their bases? I’m having a heck of a time raising the elevation on my M70.

Yes, I had an old 98k that I “sporterised” tapped for bases, bolt handle “adjusted” to clear the ocular bell on an old Kahles 4x.
I obtained some shims from Brownells that gave me a near perfect set up. The scope had a non-centered reticle, it was as close to the center for both elevation and windage as possible.

This should help. You may also need to get longer screws for your bases. Just make sure you have enough thread engagement when you get it where you need it. Same company can help with the screws if needed.

To gain elevation you will need to shim the rear of the scope. Seems like a no brainer to most, but.........
