Shield Mounts Ideas

Thinking about doing something different. I have a few skulls coming in that I want to mount on a shield. I started building a shield out of a table I found on the side of the road (I’ll add pics of the progress and follow up comments). I was originally going to stain it, but everything in my office is already so dark that I wanted to do something different. Has anyone ever done a skull mount on a Maasai or Zulu shield like the ones below? If so, I would love to see pics.

Wow! Honestly, that was a really cool table. You did a great job on the finish. I voted for skin wrapped, but that wood grain properly finished would lighten things up a bit. A spear and a war club behind it would top it off. Keep us posted!
