I am mounting a new (to me) Swarovski z6EE scope on my 416 Rem. It currently has a 25mm scope mounted on it, so as a minimum I will need a new set of 30mm low rings. I will probably use steel Weaver mounts and looking for opinions of suitable scope rings for this project. Also open to options if there is something else out there that I am missing. Also, I should mention these dont need to be quick detach rings / mounts.

I’m sure you’ll get good advice here. I really like Warne products and have had good luck with them up to .458 win mag. I would use the horizontal rings, not the vertical rings. Everything I have gotten from them is steel, so a little heavier but in my opinion better than aluminum for something that recoils. Best of luck.

Thanks for that. I was thinking along similar lines. I dont like vertically split rings - I have seen too many problems with them. But the Warne horizontal rings seem like a good option.

These seem like a good option from what I can see. Never used them before though.

Those are good holding rings. You might research if they will fit Weavers. Sometimes the lugs for the actual picatinny style are slightly different than Weavers. Usually they work but…. Warne also makes steel bases to fit quite a few actions.

I have Warne QD rings on CCOP p-rail and they work great. Their permanent rings are constructed the same. Their bases offer you a bit of flexibility for positioning forward ring. It has two slots. Quality stuff.

Agree. Warne mountain tech.

Nightforce makes a good unimount I like too.

I am plus on Warne, I have Swarovski on most of my rifles. Be careful on low mounts, Swarovski have a large eyepiece that can get in the way with low mounts. Enjoy

Yes, I am going to trial fit my scope to see how it fits with some rings I already have. I was caught that way once before with a Meopta optica 6. I mounted it on my zastava rifle, but the ring for the variable 1-6 power zoom was so big, I couldnt pull the bolt back because the bolt handle hung up on the scope. Their only answer was to ditch the low rings and go to high rings which was totally impractical for mounting a low power optic like that.

Why do you want it mounted so low?

Because the stock is suited better to low mounted optics. I dont what my DG rifle with optics in high rings thats for sure. Extremely impractical.

If it fits you and rifle for sure. But I’m 6’5. Low rings would look like a gorilla riding a tricycle.

Ooohh.. I think you'll run into problems with that scope @rifletuner. If you can just send it my way, I'll make sure to recycle it for you. Especially if it's the Z6i EE variant, those batteries need to be responsibly disposed of :)

Ill take my chances, but thanks for looking out for me

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
