I have purchased several items from individuals here but have not sold very many. If interested parties would like to contact me by phone or FaceTime I am more than willing and can provide contact information. I am located in Northern Virginia if you would like to meet in person.

I am offering this Ruger No. 1S (Medium Sporter) in .300 Win Mag. I have owned this rifle for a few years but have shot it very little, it has been stored in my safe. I am selling to “thin the herd.” I have several rifles in this cartridge class, including a .300 H&H Boddington No. 1 and Ruger Hawkeye Africans in .300 Win Mag and 35 Whelen. Based on serial number, 1999 manufacture.

I think the wood and metal finish is very good, especially the figuring in the stock. I have attached many pictures to show the rifle’s condition. If anyone would like additional pictures please let me know and I will provide.

Asking $1500.00 shipped from my FFL to the buyer’s FFL. Continental U.S preferably, but if anyone from AK or HI is interested we can check shipping rates.

Post a reply or DM me with any questions.

The advertised specifications and excerpts from the 1999 Ruger Catalog:

“The Ruger No. 1 action was designed with the extra strength needed to handle the most powerful cartridges. A compact, strong, simple breech mechanism allows the single-shot to be made with a minimum of mechanical contraptions. The ejector mechanism is designed to provide great leverage at the point where the ejector engages the rim or groove of the cartridge case. It can be adjusted to provide extraction-only. A convenient sliding shotgun-type tang safety provides both security and ease of operation. The stock and forearm of the Ruger No. 1 rifles are genuine American walnut, individually hand-fitted and cut-checkered, with a glowing satin finish. … [E]quipped with quarter-ribbed scope mounts … adjustable folding-leaf rear sight base and dovetail-type gold bead front sight.”

Catalog No. 1-S
Overall Length: 42 ¼”
Barrel Length: 26”
Weight: 8 lbs
LOP: 13 ¾”

Very, very nice rifle. The wood in the stock is better than most today.
May I suggest actual weight of your rifle? Nominally 8 pounds but that always varies a bit.
It should sell quickly here.

GLWS.

I used the specs from the Ruger catalog of 8 lbs. in the add, but just weighed it on my bathrooms scales and it is between 7 ¾ and 8 lbs.

ThreeJacks,

Good evening. Beautiful weapon. Have you hunted with it? What ammo does it like? Do you have a recent target?

Thank you in advance

RLP-

I have shot it very little. When I got the rifle I mounted a Leupold 4x scope on it, bore sighted it, and then fired two-three rounds at a 25 yd target. I had purchased the Boddington No. 1 300 H&H several years before unfired in the box and stored it. I decided I was not going to keep an unfired rifle and started shooting the 300 H&H and never went back to the .300 Win Mag.

I have been looking for 300 H&H Boddington version. Just missed one on Guns international.
Of the Boddington rifles, the 300 H&H seems to be the most frequently available on GB. There are currently two Cabelas' 50th Anniversary rifles on there now. I looked for years for the Boddington Leopard (7x57) and finally found one in May of this year.

That wood is very good, making this a very special rifle. If it were possible to import from the US this would be mine.
