Great video from The History Guy on Roosevelt's 1909 expedition to East Africa.

The number of specimens collected and their Taxidermy and preservation in order to get them to the Smithsonian must have been a monumental task.

Ok, fine, I’ll give it another try. I saw and immediately clicked on it yesterday. Tried to watch, got too distracted by the way the guy cradled his cat while staring into the video I had to move on.

Epic adventure and one I always enjoy learning more about.

The Zimbabwean history buff that Robby Kroger had on Origins pod cast a while back on the history of hunting just did a wonderful podcast on FC Selous that had a great deal of discussion of his writings and relationship with Teddy that I wasn’t fully aware of. That they had shared hundred of letters from around the time Selous wrote his first Wanderings book all the way through the remainder of his life. Knew about later writings and contacts between them, just not those first many years. Worth a listen as well.
