I am strongly considering a red stag hunt in 2025 with Marius at HUNTROMANIA.
I would like to speak with any forum members who recently did a hunt with HUNTROMANIA
I think there are a couple guys from Michigan (2023 ? ) who recently hunted with Marius for red stag.
Would love to talk about their experience.

I haven't hunted with Marius yet, but I've booked a hunt with him for Stag and Chamois in 2025. So far he has been 100% professional and communication has been excellent.

Others on this forum have hunted Stag with Marius and my advice is to read their Hunt Reports and PM those members with any questions or concerns you might have. The members I contacted were very helpful and gave Marius their highest recommendation.

@375Fox was especially helpful and I spoke with him on the phone about his Stag hunt for several hours.

I just finished a very short but good hunt with @HUNTROMANIA for fallow bucks. I took the offer posted here on AH and hunted October 21 and 22. I booked the 23rd as well but it wasn’t needed. We finished on the second morning. I flew into Bucharest and hunted near Scornicesti in Southern Romania. Hunting area was excellent. The deer were heavily concentrated in the forest. Marius said the rut was delayed slightly from last year, but rutting activity was still very high. You could hear fallow deer grunting in all directions and occasional fights. For a little as a week back i started to travel to Romania by car, it's a 2 day journey for me, one sleepo in Austria.
I departed on thursday and arrived friday, i was on time there, and Marius asked if i wanted to go out in the evening, off course yes.
The guide, Cosmin picked me up with his son, at 17:00 Romania time.
we drove for about 45 minutes to the area, where i shot last year a red stag.
i went with Cosmin to a highseat, and Cosmin his son went to a different highseat.

Then on to Cluj Napoca via Swiss Air. I was meeting up with my wife after the hunt to take a cruise out of Barcelona. SO I obviously opted tom rent one of Marius available rifles.

Many of us have been watching the posts by @HUNTROMANIA with great interest. The owner, Marius, has teased us with pictures of incredible trophies and attractive offers. My willpower tested to its limits, I took Marius up on his offer for a red stag hunt with no trophy fee. As Romania is a new adventure for most of us, I am going to take a different approach to this post and try to create an understanding of what to expect if your willpower is also tested beyond the breaking point.

My wife, Lynda, and I had booked a hunt with an outfitter in Romania, but after covid, his business seemed to fall apart. He wouldn't answer our emails and we ended up canceling our hunt with him without a refund.

Based on the reviews on this website we contacted Marius who owns HuntRomania and booked a hunt. Marius was unhappy that Romanian hunting would get a bad name because of our bad experience with the first outfitter and he really went out of his way to provide us with a wonderful experience.
Even though we were only about 6 weeks from our previously scheduled hunt dates...

Around 17 September i went to Romania.
I live in Germany, so i made it an 2 day drive.
After an very successful roedeer hunt in may, i decided to hunt redstag in the rut, with @HUNTROMANIA.
I hunt since 2015 with Marius, and its always a pleasure to hunt with him.

On the way to Romania, many rain, and when i enter Romania rain.
The entrance to Romania, went very smoothly, the border police was in a good mood.
When i arrived in the hotel, i did let Marius know that i arrived, after a few minutes he said, that his ranger could pick me up, for an evening stalk or highseat if i wanted...

This will be my first hunt report on this forum, it turned out to be a pretty long one. First of all I want to express my gratitude to Marius Merutiu at Huntromania for the exceptional offer. 2 years back i travelled to one of Marius areas where they hunt redstag in the rut.
The thing is that i had to plan it early, Marius told me what where the best dates normally.
But in that period it was still very hot, more hot as normally with the rut, but still the redstags where roaring.
This hunt was in his flat area’s, i hunted there before and i bagged 2 redstag in that time.
The redstags where more active in the morning then in the evening, so my first redstag we followed the sound for a few miles, this deer was walking with his females.

Last week of july i was going to Romania to hunt roebuck in the rut.
The last week of july and first week of august are very good times to hunt, but may is the best time, but because of COVID restrictions i could not go in may.
I went by car, and the travel went smoothly , Marius send the papers i needed to enter Romania with my rifle, and after the crossing the border, it took me some hours to get in the mountains.
its an very beautifull area for somebody living in flat country.
The next day the hunt would started, it would be driving, spotting and mostly stalking.
My goal was selective...

In may i hunted with him on roebuck, very succesfull(report will follow)

Although I cannot speak to his Red Stag hunts, I did hunt Roebuck with Marius two months ago. He had access to good properties, knew them well, and got us on deer during each hunting session. Very flexible and professional; a top-notch operation.

If you haven't already been to the HUNTROMANIA website, it's worth the time. Everything from small game like waterfowl and birds, to very large Boar and Stag. Adding Bear to the mix is icing on the cake.

And also, we'd ideally like to take back the skull/antlers if possible as checked baggage on Turkish Air, but haven't gotten clarification if it's possible. Any thoughts on either? Thanks!

I think any skull and antlers of a really good Stag would be difficult to take on the airline with you. I think even on the fixed price Stag hunts the trophy quality is outstanding.

On this hunt, I'm after the MACHO GRANDE of stags, so my plan has been to leave it with a local taxidermist for shipment at a later date.

I've told Marius I'd prefer to hunt in the area where trophy size may be slightly better, but trophy fees are charged by kg or score. I'll be flying into Bucharest, as the hunt area is close by.

After the hunt, there are several Castles, like Bran Castle, Corvins Castle, and Peles Castle. Salt mines dating from the Roman era, Salina Turda being the most spectacular, and museums in the Capitol. Not taking rifles as Marius has R8's for rent, so traveling with firearms after the hunt won't be a concern.

If you are going to the hunt area close to Cluj, there are Castles, Monestaries, wineries and other attractions in that area. Each part of Romania seems to offer it's own charm, so hopefully I have the opportunity to hunt and take in other parts of the Country in the future.

We are hunting for Stags and Chamois this time, but I've already told Tina I'll want to hunt with Marius again in the future. The size of the Boar they have in the Carpathian mountains is incredible.

It might have to wait, but a hunt for Boar and small game like Pheasants and Quail, then exploring other parts of Romania like Cluj up north would be a great second trip.

I haven't seen anyone on this forum take Marius up on waterfowl or serious wing shooting, but Tina would love it. I'll have to see what part of the Country he does these hunts.

I did some wing shooting on Quail after i hunted my redstags a few years back, but it depends on there migration, the weather etc if they are there.
