This is a report on a Roebuck I shot near the village of Ejulve in the province of Teruel, an area where some of you have hunted Ibex, and where nice roebucks can be found.
I used my trusty Remington 700 Mountain in .243W, with RWS TM 100gr. SP
My friend/Outfitter JM Aranda and my guide David came along, I had hunted with both before.
The metod of hunting was spot and stalk, we drove along the trails, stopped and glassed an area, then on to the next.
Some pics of the area
As the sun was fading, David spotted a buck at the bottom of the valley, it was walking and feeding, going away from us at about a 45º angle, JM ranged him at 234 meters, and said. hurry he is not stopping, so I supported the rifle on my forked walking stick, and let go.
My intention was to shoot him behind the left front leg, but I hit his left hip and we had a three legged buck running fast.
He managed to escape into some dense vegetation, and even with help of David.s, dog, we could not find him before sunset. David said, he is done for he is losing a lot of blood, we´ll find him tomorrow.
And we did, unfortunately the vultures, of which there are many in this area, and other scavengers got to the buck before, and he was not nice for pictures, nor could we take the meat, so I will show pics after he came from the taxidermy.
