Rigby Sidelever Single Shot Rifle

Well, if you buy this rifle, you can compete in the upcoming Rook, Sporting, and Double Rifle match being held at the Oak Ridge Sportsman Association range (Oak Ridge, TN). The matches will be held on April 24 and 25, 2026.

Rick Weber will host this match. The previous matches that I attended were great. Even if you don't shoot, the trip is well it as there are numerous vintage rook, double rifles, and sporting rifles by famous makers.

Rick's email announcing the match states:

5- shots at 25, 50 & 100 for each discipline.

$40 for all, we’ll have a catered dinner Friday evening. (food only is $30). I’ll need a number for the caterer, the week prior.

Feel Free to forward this to a potential vintage shooter.

If you have specific questions – please email me at Richard.Weber@CVSHealth.com

Thanks

Super interesting thread. I learn so much from reading posts like this. That is a very nice looking rifle and I hope it finds a good home very soon!
On a more sour note, I have made the decision to hit the ignore button on a couple of members after reading this thread. One is a newer member who has proven consistently obnoxious, and the other is a more established member who seems intent on bullying anyone less experienced than himself.
I really appreciate the courteous and gentlemanly tone from most of you. Best regards

If someone here can sell me loaded .300 Rook ammo I will buy this rifle. And perhaps suggestions on what rear sight I can acquire as a donor that would be period correct

I don’t load ammo and don’t want to start now.

I already know where the components and dies are sold. So please don’t suggest where I buy components and load them. Thanks

If you have a lead on loaded ammo we can give this rifle a new home

We appreciate you too. But if you find something/someone obnoxious might try a friendly chat about it with said people.
Vs the overt attempt at virtue signalaling.
Because your post lacks the tact you claim to cherish.

I did a little perusing. Not finding any commercially available ammo. But ill post a link if I find some.

There are free 400 rounds of Kynoch on GI when you buy the rifle.

I’m sure Superior or Hendershots can load you ammo, but it’s really straightforward if you hand load at all, this is a very easy caliber to work with that uses very little powder.

Awesome post. Thanks for sharing the info.

The best part of the story is really about the purist nature of @Altitude sickness . He's a gun conservator, not a restorer. He's going to spit shine that lovely rifle, actually load it up, and he's going to kill game (okay Brits: "quarry") with it!

This is exactly what I stand for: Vintage guns are functional art. Wallhanger aficionados need not apply.
