I enjoyed your story. Like the facts you put the bad in there with ultimately a great ending. Too often I read reports with only fairies, unicorns and rainbows.

I expected a better rhino. The other lesser ones must have been ... not much.

I found the honesty refreshing. The price of those hunts is downright staggering. Hard to believe that PH would be such a screw-up given the cost. What was he thinking dragging along eight people to stalk anything in such thick cover, let alone those nasty critters. Hunting buffalo I had several close encounters with rhinos. It is truly something to actually see them up close and personal. I had absolutely no desire to shoot one though. The property owner made me a deal for a dart hunt that was hard to turn down ... for anybody else I guess. Not me. Zero interest. But it was cool dodging them all the time. Should have taken more photos but when they're that close I usually have my hands full of gun.
Likewise. No interest in shooting a rhino. On my buf hunt we saw several and the PH asked me if I would like to dart one. No, thanks at 6k. Much more fun to watch them.

Aaron......enjoyed your write up immensely...well done...PH notwithstanding you had a good trip. And on the plus side, during the 24 years I have been going to Africa, I have never been on a plane that was not completely full. Always some sweet with the sour............FWB

@Ontario Hunter . It is more that the guy has his dream hunt completed and your first reaction is that you expected a better rhino specimen.

That does not feel very welcoming does it. We have to do better as a forum. Lately it is getting more like any other forum. Where is the decorum?

Aaron thanks for sharing,

Being a Professional hunter in SA means you earn a living from it but it doens't mean you CAN HUNT!

I am Pro South Africa but its just too easy to do the 10 day course and qualify as a PH.

It's a wonderful story, with a great sharp humor that makes you think of Jerome K. Jerome and other classic writers. The author can only be congratulated on his double good fortune.

P.S. Does the horn really help?

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
