Thought I would give this a try on my new M70 since there's not much info out there; what I did find was all positive. Also considered Murphy Precision Ti pic base with Leupold QRW rings and Ken Farrell pic base and rings. Those solutions were considerably more expensive and heavier. The Game Reaper was $96 delivered to my door and weighs 3.3 ounces (94g) including the screws. Also, I don't own any special scope mounting tools/jigs/alignment devices, so I intend to mount and use as the maker intended- nothing special required, so we'll see. This is what's included:

Of note are the extra long screws for the rings and the offset connecting rail to clear the loading area. HELP: I was concerned about 35-inlb on the rings. Leupold says to follow the manufacturers instructions but I wanted to see if anyone expert in Leupold scopes (@Mark Biggerstaff) could render an opinion. The inside of the rings are smooth, not machined. The screw heads are 7/64-inch hex. The rail is 0.320 inches wide (8.1mm). The mounting holes lined up perfectly with the holes in my receiver. Note the model number engraved into the rail: 70SAF3M = Model 70 Safari action 30mm main tube Medium height. The website has a digital catalog that includes every model they make by gun make and model with the measurements from receiver to bottom and center of the ring to help you order. I emailed to make sure about the height and to ask if this unit can stand up to heavy recoil. Tim, the owner, assured me that recoil was no problem and that medium was the only height available for my gun.

Here is the position of the bar relative to the loading area; it is less intrusive than most 1-pc bases in my opinion.

And the completed mount in profile with the Leupold VX-6HD 1-6x Patrol. Can't tell from the angle here, but any emergency DG loading would be hampered more by the windage knob more than the 1-pc rail in my opinion.

Not sure I'm at the final eye relief I want, but this is the relationship between the bolt and mag knobs at 6x. If I operate the bolt fast with the palm (as one should) it will clear, but I wouldn't count on it. No problem at 5x.

Here's a glamour shot outdoors in the early afternoon comparing the different shades of black.

Final weight as shown is 10lb 7.8oz (4.76kg). Loaded weight with 350gr. pills will be 10lb 14oz (4.93kg). Hopefully makes for a comfortable 416Rem. No shots fired yet; I'll have to report back how the base performs. Hope this helps anyone looking for an alternative mounting solution.

First, remove that lever and put in plus screw on power ring. It will cause you problems, my opinion.
I do ring screws 18-20in lbs depending on rings. Never used the DNZ so no idea on there recommended torque .

I have one of these for the M70. I like it but as with all things there are pros and cons to consider.
Pros: very sturdy when installed correctly, and ring alignment is perfect (no marks on my scope and I have moved it around between different guns)
Cons: needs to be bedded at the rear to ensure correct contact with receiver both fore and aft, due to this and the inherent design it is NOT in any way a quick release system (not a good choice for a rifle with iron sights if you have any intention or need of using iron sights)

I probably will remove the throw lever and the only reason I bought a scope at all (besides it was on sale) was the iron sights are useless for me with the straight comb and cheek piece; I can't come close to getting alignment with them. Another reason I decided to give the DNZ a try. I felt pretty good about the front to rear contact; again, I'm wanting to take Tim at his word and just slap them on and see what happens. If they require bedding, I'll do it; thanks for that tip.

Couple other points for anyone wanting to try. They do include an Allen key for the screws I didn't show in the pictures. The inside screws are recessed too deep for a standard (short) hex bit to reach, so I couldn't use my torque wrench on those. I just calibrated my thumb on the Allen key to get those to the correct tightness.

I have one on my Marlin GBL. It has been phenomenal. Absolutely love it.

Im a fan of those dnz mounts. Simple and effective. I like the flat bar that goes across underneath because it makes leveling the scope a breeze with feeler gauges

I had a DNZ base/rings (one piece) on a Rem 700 ADL .308 Win (short action). It was as solid and trouble free as any mount that I'm aware of. the reason I removed it was I wanted to use a peep sight.

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts
