Restaurants in Joberg Airport?

I just go to the Airport... ...There are lots of food options in the food court........ The food was really fine and it was a relaxing spot..

If you’re at Quills in the Intercontinental, then you absolutely must try their signature mixed grill.

And at Spur Steakhouse, try their extra matured 500 gram beef rump steak. Rump has always been my least favorite cut of beef. But these guys know exactly what they’re doing.

Try Ocean basket, They make a nice creamy pasta.

I just went through Joburg airport recently and noticed a few newer food spots in Terminal A, like a really decent coffee shop near the passport control area. Anyone else seen changes or have thoughts on the slow service at some places? Wondering if that's still hit or miss depending on the time of day.

I will be traveling through Joberg later this month on my way to Namibia. I’ll be overnighting there. It’s been since 2013 that I’ve been. Just wanted to see what people who have been recently would recommend for getting something to eat before checking into the hotel for the night? Thanks
When overnighting we usually eat at City Lodge since we are staying there and the food is quite good. Another great option is to go to Quills at the Intercontinental hotel but reservations are recommended. Outside security Spur would be my choice and inside security usually a lounge but the Pizza restaurant has lamb chops!

Stayed overnight in Joberg a few weeks back and found a small spot near the hotel that served simple but tasty meals—nothing fancy, but perfect after a long drive. The menu had some hearty local dishes, and the vibe was relaxed. It reminded me a bit of some devonport restaurants I’ve been to, where the food feels fresh and honest without any fuss.

I just came through again, earlier this week. Options are pretty limited as others have stated. Lines can be long. If you are short on time, there are 2 or 3 pizza places that are ok and the mixed grill options. I've often wondered why they don't have a basic KFC there since there are so many locally and all over South Africa.

I like Nando's. Love the Pari Pari chicken.

Nando’s now sells their sauces on Amazon and they have franchises in the USA. I know there were a few in Chicago, but I never made it to them.

There is another franchise chain called “Port of Peri Peri” that is popping up around the USA. Very good, very similar.

Sorry for sliding off topic on the primary point of the thread, food in JHB airport. The food at the airport lounge is not great, and I found no meals of note in the airport. There is a biltong shop that has excellent biltong, the springbok being the best of the varieties I tried. (Fill up on Biltong)

I've been meaning to buy at that biltong shop but haven't yet.

They had a bunch of options. Kudu, Eland, Impala, Haartbeest, Springbok. Really pleasant black lady runs the shop whom I enjoyed chatting with. I tried them all and bought several varieties, but the consensus was SpringBok was the best. (blind taste test with family concurred)

I've never hunted nor seen a Springbok because I don't hunt RSA, but I will say that Impala is the best biltong I've had other than fatty eland when homemade in Zim. I imagine if I got to make real biltong at camp from Springbok I'd change my opinion to Springbok.

That makes sense to me. You hear about the biltong hunters focusing on springbok...head shots only! I've eaten a lot of biltong but usually don't know the animal source. Most of it has been good and some of it is excellent.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
