REMINGTON 721 in .375 H&H MAGNUM

If missing a letter it’s a ADL maybe 1955-59
721A 1948 – 1962
721AC 1949 – 1955 (checkered stock)
721B Special Grade 1949 – 1955
721D Peerless Grade 1949 – 1959
721F Premier Grade 1949 – 1959
721 ADL - 1955-1959

Watch out for the safety and have it inspected and properly proofed by a competent professional gun smith ( they are notorious for negligent discharges)

then you should know you can go to google or you tube and type in remington 721 rifle serial numbers and specks to find the date and what the sights look like. not every body is a expert and advice can be taken or ignored.

Instead of jumping the gun to try correcting someone else, please first read what's specifically written...

It's very clear in my post that said how I was previously informed the serial number for this gun does not appear to be typical and therefore can have problems for dating it, but youre another one who's quick to throw out the you-should-of-used-google method as if in 2025 no one knows to have already tried google.

Just doing your apparently so-simple method of searching "Remington 721" on youtube , google, etc for sights does not simply bring up the sights that are necessarily the orginal to each person's 721 ... the Remington 721 was made for quite a number of years and therefore there is more than one type of sight that was used on them

And so the exact or very close year of the gun is needed in order to then know what type of sights were original to it and then I can proceed from there to search for those specific type of sights

I don’t see anything very clear in your post. Looks like you are just trying to show everyone you got a new 375 with a question tossed in at the end. Your attitude is much more clear.

Hi Pilar, thank you for the information :)

Its very helpful

I had already inquired about this gun on 700Rifle, RemingtonSociety, and a couple other forums but I'm getting a mix of responses

Would you please provide the source to the information of "If missing a letter it’s a ADL maybe 1955-59" so that I can also research into that?

Please go back and read it again :)

and

"REMINGTON 721 SERIAL NUMBER: 1 1 2 9 8 2
Its located on front left side of the action/receiver and is shown down below in the pictures.
And no, there are no letters in the serial number which I was shown is odd since Remington apparently use to put letter(s) in the serial number of all their earlier guns in order to represent the year of its manufacturing.
So what year is this gun based on the serial number and any of its characteristics?"

It doesn’t have a checkered stock or letter in the serial number = ADL & rebarreled
Only a 725 came in.375 & .458 and are 1961 only year of manufacture

And the letter represents the grade, not year of manufacture I believe
“”
  • Model 721A Standard grade
  • Model 721BDL Deluxe grade
  • Model 722A Standard grade
  • Model 722BDL Deluxe grade
  • Model 725ADL Deluxe grade””

With all due respect to you, please do all of us a favor ....
There's no need for captain-obvious advice.
EVERYONE knows they can make changes to their butt pad to reduce recoil.
Even beginners are perceptive enough to know what a butt pad does and that it can be modified for added comfort.

My post makes clear that I'm just needing information for what year this gun is, and what are the original sights that would have came on the gun before it was re-barrelled.

Thank you :)
Geez.. Lighten up. @375er was just trying to help. You posted on a public forum looking for some advice....
If you don't like his response you can simply move along... No need to jump on his shit for some simple constructive advice....

Against my better judgement, I'm going to try to help you here. Try going here and looking for the parts you need.

Now, for the future, you can get a lot more done by being a bit more polite and respectful. No one insulted you for you to get upset and reply the way you replied. A simple, thank you for the info, but this is what I'm looking for, would have given you a lot more credibility and gain the respect of the guys who have been here for a while.

Please stop manipulating the actuality and move to another person's post instead of you trying to create more arguments.
I was clear as to what information I came here for,
and I'm not here on this site or on the other few forums to keep getting notifications concerning a reply to my posts but then to find out the replies have nothing to do with the specific questions thats needed help on

If you dont have information that directly pertains to the information being sought after, then simply move onto another person's post where you can be beneficial to it

Well everything did go great with shooting the .375 H&H Mag BUT there is the issue of not being any sights on the gun.

And so again, I and no one else needs told directly to
"Do yourself a favor. get a recoil pad that slips on your shoulder. will take away the punch while you get familiar with it."

Even beginners KNOW they can modify their butt pad to provide comfort

Anyone else who cant be polite by simply sticking to the point of what I'm here to get information on and/or is then going to point the finger at me for not being polite or is going to hype up things into I was being angry/upset, please leave to another person's post where you might be able to actually help

I'm here for the specific questions I asked and not to constantly get notification after notification for replies to my posts here on this site and the few other sites but those replies have nothing to do with the information that I'm asking for

Uhh Ok good luck finding the right parts
And don’t forget about the defective safety issue

He’s not suggesting you modify your butt pad. He’s talking about a pad you wear on your shoulder. And it is good advice for long range sessions. I use one even in lesser kicking rifles because I can shoot more at one time.

and so come back in from reaching WAY out on that limb (y)

It obviously doesn't matter if its the gun's butt pad or a separate pad when the clear point is that no one needs told
"Do yourself a favor. get a recoil pad"
Everyone knows, including beginners, that they can reduce the recoil with pads

i know what year the rifle was made and what the original sights were. you can guess what the answers are for all i care.
Ok. Well. I'm getting more help on 2 of the other 4 sites than I been getting here.

Will easily choose to use forums where the other users have been directly relating their replies to the actual information being looked for instead of random stuff being thrown out there that's not helping the goal

Petulance is not helping the goal much either…

Since you didn’t like the recoil pad suggestion this might be a better option.

Just did a podcast, check it out if interested!

Cowboybart wrote on Yukontom's profile.
I read an older thread that mentioned you having some 9.3x64 brass. Do you still have some? I am looking for 100 pcs, maybe 200.
