Recoil: what does it mean to you?

I havent had too mamy problems either, thank god !
But I do have a ruger 470ne single shot. It only weights 8.5lbs. It is a bruiser for sure. I dont shoot it. I just let me friends shoot it that want to shoot my 500ne.
They never want to shoot the 500 after.
Works out great for me. I dont have to be a ass and tell them no !

A .470 Ruger No.1 at 8.5#? That sounds interesting. I have a 9.5# .458 Lott. I'm thinking you've got me beat, but they say the .470 is gentler than the Lott.

Recoil to me is a cumulative thing. I don't think I've ever been kicked hard enough on the first shot to turn me away. The Lott is loud and fast in coming back. That's the big limiter for me in shooting it. I have to be conditioned to expect and accept that heavy and fast poke. After a few shots interesting things start to happen like pectoral muscle quivering and headaches. It's time to do something else at that point.

This one is easy...at the range recoil sucks, in the field I don’t even know the rifle has gone off.

I've never shot the 458 lott. Ive been told the lott and the 460 Weatherby are both stout amd both kick like a 500ne. To me, my 500 kicks about asmuch as a 12 ga. Not too much, but wouldnt want to shoot it all day either. The ruger is another matter. That thing is just pure evil !
Also being left handed and shooting right handed rifles, I believe adds pain when the cast is the wrong direction.

Here's the target for the NorthForks - 25yds off a bag, iron sights. Hunting leopards over dogs the range won't be more than that.

Flew in an airshow in Smyrna years ago, beautiful country.

Best regards,

Franco
