For those that find this information interesting:

I have a few rifles being modified, for which certain Recknagel pieces are necessary (ghost ring for CZ550) amongst some other parts. Trying to find some stock, the gun smith called them directly and was informed that Recknagel will be stopping the production of many parts focused on (classical) hunting rifles, to focus more on their parts for the tactical world.

From what I understood NECG was sourcing their parts also (in part at least) from Recknagel and rebranding them, which is why certain parts are currently out of stock. Likely this will not be solved soon.

Looks like another gun (parts) manufacturer is focusing on the plastic-fantastic, instead of classic hunting rifles...

It is getting to be rare for any rifle sold here in Europe to note have it's own rifle mount situation.

I can't see any company making a ton of money supporting legacy rifles that have not been produced in over 10 years.

Almost every rifle in Europe has a 1913 rail on it from the factory or after market. Orhas its own system like the Blaser, Sauer,Sako or whatever.

The market is shifting. I am at the shooting range of my hunting association every week and I see what kind of rifles the younger hunters use. All rifles with synthetic stocks, shorter barrels, and suppressors. Rifles with wooden stocks are increasingly associated with high class hunting rifles and the gunmakers that produce them are not dependent on Recknagel.

Correct, but that means that in the medium to long term, the cost of making more custom (dangerous game) hunting rifles will go up a lot. Which will drive many smaller makers out of business.

Oh heavens no!

How many Merkel, Heym and Krieghoff rifles are made each year? A guy can't base his entire livelihood of his business on 100 rifles a year.

There are better options like the Smithson mount system.

Nature and hunters abhor a vacuum. I postulate that smaller shops and enthusiasts will come forth to fill the vacuum and some will become the new Recknagel. Just one old hunters opinion.

I am thinking of establishing a factory that will have its own production of top-quality weapons and assembly of already proven systems

I like the word “factory”. But, for the gun trade, finding talented, dedicated gunsmiths, not assembler’s” who will work in a factory and you with a profitable bottom line, is tough

Here is a Matrix custom quarter rib (and banded slng, front base) 404J on an FN action.
Veryyyy long breech and the tall Leupold scope bases required higher sight bases.

Drake and Hudson and Tim at Matrix are now affiliated with each other. I currently have a .458 WM project in their hands. My old rifle is getting some stock dimension upgrades. New bolt handle, trigger and 3 Pos safety.

I've read a bit on their website, where they claim to build all their CZ550 upgrade parts, specifically to the exact donor rifle. So this would mean they could not send over a parts kit, for another gunsmith to install?

I have a CZ550 as well and had a similar question. I spoke with one of the Drake and Hudson owners and he told me when they get through the wave of 550 upgrades they will work on making some kits to fit standard contours (Douglas #4 , Lothar Walther, etc). He said there were too many variables at the moment to ensure a good custom fit if done by another smith, with that he said for now you can send your rifle/barreled action directly to them and they will do the install properly until they get the kits going.

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
