has anyone heard that coppersmith has been bought out? I was also told that they are paying exporters in africa to steer
Their clients to them. I am asking because I do not know if this is good information or not. I have always used copper smith
But if this is true I will be looking elsewhere. I will post more info when my friend has their crate in hand.

I have no info if bought out, but I do know that all trophy shipment paperwork now goes through Dallas instead of each location.

And no clue if they are paying for exporters to steer shipment to them.

I think trophy exports out of the US are being handled exclusively by the Dallas office. It’s business as usual for imports, pick the location you want.

I got a list of 4 or 5 importers from Trophy Pro SA, coppersmith was one of them. It was blind chance I selected them. If some of the taxidermists are steering people to them, it isn't TPSA doing it. I picked up my stuff at their warehouse up near IAH in June.

This sounds like a rumor that adds no value. Where did this information come from? My most recent shipment in April went as normal. I’ve also never had a shipping agent make a recommendation for a customs broker unless asked but commissions are pretty standard. Your outfitter gets a commission from the taxidermist. They get a commission from shipping agent. A commission from customs broker wouldn’t surprise me.

okay so This is concerning my brothers recent shipment from Namibia. his shipper did not ask him
who he wanted to use just told him coppersmith. I thought that was odd. A local taxidermist who I will not name told my brother that coppersmith had sold and he had multiple customers having problems.
Doesn't sound right to me I have always dealt with Michael coppersmith and been completely satisfied.
Thus the question, not trying to pack tales just thought someone else might have info.

They merged last summer but that's all I could find. I plan on using Wyatt at SSI next year.
"
El Segundo, Calif. (July 3, 2024) – L.E. Coppersmith, Inc. (Coppersmith) a full-service international logistics company specializing in customs brokerage and international import and export freight forwarding, announced today it has entered into an agreement to merge with Honour Lane Shipping Ltd. (HLS), a leader in international logistics and NVOCC.

This merger will bring Coppersmith under HLS Group Holdings, majority owned by Hong Kong-based private equity firm Nexus Point Capital, which is strategically integrating global logistics companies into a dynamic growth platform.

Thank you exactly the kind of info I was looking for.

Their booth at DSC said "formerly Coppersmith" last weekend. Don't know if that matters but it's out there now.

not trying to start rumors just asking questions

So if the booth said formerly, what are they fancied being referred to now?

Coppersmith site says, "Coppersmith enters into a strategic partnership with Honour Lane." It is list in their historical timeline as 2024. I will continue to use them if they keep the Dallas office.

Here is the link to their announcement of the partnership with Honour Lane.

Got my crate a few weeks ago and providing some feedback here:

1. I received everything in good order. Warehouse staff loaded the box on my trailer with care. Good experience here.

2. In spite of several calls and emails from me, there was not communication from Coppersmith until and at the point the crate was ready for pickup. They provided 7 business days I believe to retrieve the shipment at no charge. After that it would roll to a storage fee. Could pose some inconvenience for someone that travels frequently. Would have liked to have more communication during the process.

Overall the experience was good and pricing seemed reasonable for import and storage. I would have liked some more communication as to the phase of the process and a bit more notice for when the box had passed customs. Perhaps this is the norm though, for those who have done this in the past. This was my first crate from Africa.

I’ve used 3 customs brokers for importing trophies. It seems a very impersonal business model. I’ve just come to accept they will answer an email or call on their own time. Coppersmiths has been better than the other two for me though. I previously used fauna and flora when they were around. I found them difficult to contact to even pay my bill, but my trophies always came through.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
