Does anyone know if Qatar airlines considers a bow a firearm and has the same requirements as a gun?

No, Qatar Airways does not treat a bow as a firearm. While guns require a complex pre-approval process and a "Declaration of Surrender," a bow and arrows are simply classified as sporting equipment.

So i should have no issues transferring airlines using Qatar with my bow ?

Save time and don’t use a pelican or other rifle looking hard bow case. It will be sent over to the rifle counter. And you’ll have to go through the same long line process. even if it’s marked “not a rifle archery equipment”. If the case looks like a rifle case it will get sent over there.

If short enough ATA put it in your suitcase with sufficient cushioning from clothes. Or use a soft sided bow case as your suitcase.

I didn’t have any issue but expect it to be treated like a firearm. Lady weighed my arrows………..Good thing is you’ll get a supervisor who’ll expedite.

The only Archery restriction I am aware of right now is You cannot take Broadheads through Amsterdam.

Do they pre-cut your steak in the restaurants there as well so that no one ever handles a knife?

You just said the magic and sometime tragic word. "Transferring airlines with a....." What airline to which other airline? Where? There are many different requirements and bows are NOT just a piece of luggage.
You should always use a TA and endeavor to stay on one airline. If that is not possible then hand check to the second airline. Guns or no guns.
I'm rooting for you but this one has the potential to go sideways.

Everyday worker at the check in counter is usually clueless. Good thing is you’ll get a supervisor which will expedite. One weighed my arrows to make sure they weren’t more than 5 kg……….if in a black case you may also get a CBP check- I use 3 master locks on mine.

Be careful with secondary airlines. Airlink charges for sports equipment bags and over 50#. If over you’re gonna have to go up and settle up.

Emirates won’t let you board until they call in your rifle to the baggage handlers. I always felt secure in getting my weapons with them because of the high sphincter levels.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
