In memoriam - Prayers for the American Hunter Killed by a Charging Buffalo

Very sorry to read this, my condolences to his family and friends.

As has been said, at least he died doing what he loved.

Very sad indeed. Condolences to his family and the team who were with him.

Sorry if I gave the impression that anything was done wrong on the hunt. Every animal and every situation is different. There are no carved in stone rules when tracking game. I know that well enough. I spent most of my hunting career tracking big game in snow. I was merely curious. As I said, from what little we do know, it must have been a freak occurrence (i.e. client killed while the party was tracking a buffalo = buff backtracked and ambushed from behind?)

However it happened, this was a tragedy. I feel for the family. Very much. Been there.

As someone with nowhere near as experience as you Ontario Hunter is a buffalo honestly wily enough to know it is being followed and then set up an ambush as u suggested? And what would have happened to the buffalo?

People don't give Buffalo enough credit. They are very smart.

Our condolences...

Sad news for sure.

Condolences and prayers to family and others involved.

Tragic news, condolences to the family and those present. A harsh reminder to us all.

I personally knew AW (I won’t mention his name because antis regularly hound these forums and will think of this tragedy as some sick reason to publicly celebrate).

He was a gent whom I’m proud to call my friend and he’d happily give you the shirt off his back if he knew that you needed it. He had quite possibly the largest collection of pre ‘64 Winchester Model 70s in the entire world (that I know of).

It’s a grotesque tragedy as to what happened. I pray for his dearly departed soul.
Sorry for the loss of your friend and our fellow hunter. Very tragic. Please give my condolences to his family and friends. May he rest now, in peace…

Prayers for everyone involved

Very sad to hear of this tragedy. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad to hear , condolences to his family and friends .

(Sadly the fb posts are starting to pop up of that kind and it’s many bizarre ones . )

I saw a FB post this morning of celebration of his death "millionaire hunter killed by beast as he is trying for his next trophy", fucking hell, bastards.
Exact reason I left the name out

Condolences to the family and friends. Its easy to forget just how dangerous doing what we love is until something like this happens.

My condolences to his family.
I sincerely hope that the details of what happened are released, not to satisfy morbid curiosity, but to share valuable information that may just help prevent another similar tragedy.
Agree 100% ,Ive been tire kicking on 375 h+h's, now I considering moving to a 416. been charged by domestic bulls on the ranch, not a fun thing at all, know guys who have been seriously hurt. LEARN from this.

I actually experienced an unprovoked charge from a Cape Buffalo bull in South Africa.

It can happen, no fault of anyone.

It can end very badly. Praying for the family and the PH and Outfitters as well.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
