Lets try this again...

there are plenty of roles an attorney can play in the US without being admitted to the bar.. and they can certainly "practice" law, just not all law.. and there are actually many situations where attorneys can be admitted to the bar without sitting for the bar exam..

In Wisconsin for example.. attend an accredited law school.. like the Univ of Wisconsin Law School or Marquettes law school.. and you can be admitted to the bar, without sitting for the wisconsin bar exam..

https://law.wisc.edu/current/diploma_privilege/

In Oregon there is a pathway to being allowed to practice without passing the bar where attorneys can work supervised under other licensed attorneys..

Utah, New Mexico, and Washington all have similar programs.. and several other states are in the process of creating "alternative" programs of their own...

Then we have specialized fields of law in the US that do not require passing a state bar exam.. an example would be patent law.. patent attorneys take the USPTO Patent Bar Exam, and usually have degrees in engineering and other science fields in addition to their JD... (my understanding is the USPTO is a much bigger bitch than state bar exams though)..

Many states in the US do not require admission to the bar to work in arbitration or mediation..

And.. if we go back to Ontario Hunters original post.. the press secretary worked in China.. where NO ONE other than Chinese nationals are allowed to sit for their equivalent of the bar exam.. MANY US and Euopean attorneys however work in legal fields in China and are involved in everything from intelectual property, to international law consulting..

If you want to dig in deeper.. more and more states and law schools in the US are sticking their middle finger up at the American Bar Association and basically telling them to kiss their assess..

California took on online laws chools as far back as 1998 and will grant law licenses and allow grads from those schools to be admitted to the california bar, despite the ABA raising hell years ago disallowing any online training for state bar applicants.. for what its worth, prior to online, CA had correspondence course law schools as far back as 1982...

After COVID, for obvious reasons the ABA started taking a lighter approach, but has still insisted that online courses be minimal.. Harvard threatened them a few years ago and challenged them to try to disallow Harvard JD's from taking a bar exam.. stating Harvard would decide how much or little online courses would be allowed, not the ABA... shortly thereafter the ABA conceeded and agreed that up to 50% of a JD can now be taught online.. Purdue and the University of Hawaii have responded with a similar Harvard middle finger and have released 100% online Juris Doctors.. my understanding is several other schools are in the process of doing the same thing.. and the states are all telling the ABA to kiss their ass..

The ABA and the bar as we currently know it are dying a much more rapid death than anyone thought they would even just 10 years ago.. the ABA and the bar exams are going to either rapidly reform... or the universities and the states in the US are going to get rid of them altogether..

The ABA can’t die on the vine soon enough.

Trumps mouth cost Republicans a Senate seat in Georgia and now it appears his mouth and using a 100% purity standard on John Cornyn will give Texas a Democrat senator.
He also cost them NC by driving Tillis in retirement. Pissing off the farmers has put Iowa in play. In any other environment the Dem candidate in Michigan should be easy to beat but now not so.

This map should have been one with pickup opportunities for Rs, instead they are on defense because of the way voters are reacting to the administration.

Tillis left bc he also knew it would be very difficult to win against Cooper. Especially with how poorly Trump is doing. Roy Cooper has never lost a race. Tillis didn't want to role the dice one last time.

Trump is doing great things. He is too brash and bold for the independents and squish voter. They just want to live their lives with head in the sand and be told everything is fine.
They did not want Trump to pull 20 bandages off at once. So will now vote for the person that allows them to go back to sleep.

The best thing Trump can do now is resign and let Vance have a two year run to calm things down before 2028. Even though he can’t win in 2028.

Rubio may stand a chance in 2028 if he resigns soon enough to allow the stink to dissipate.

There is a lot of truth in that. I also believe that many Americans do not want significant change ...either way. They want to be left alone to live their best lives, without being inundated by the political process.... I have a friend that sent me a text a few days ago in quotes....
"My vote will go to any candidate that will introduce legislation that makes it illegal for campaigns to call or text me"

To your point...

John Cornyn caused John Cornyn to lose the election. Taking the lead on gun control was the final straw, sledgehammer really, that pissed off R voters in Texas. Paxton’s blowout in the primary run off was a scream of frustration. And even worse, some R's are campaigning against Paxton, which reinforces the perception of a "uniparty" manipulating voters and now punishing voters who dared to kick out the party machine candidate.

So now Texas will have a 100% anti gun Senator. instead of one that had an A+ rating.

Although Cornyn was wrong to back Red Flag language in the bill. He was a better choice than what Texas will get.

What a Sh!! Show. The only worse race is in Michigan.

I would not count on that yet. The Austin boy is taking lots of incoming. Unfortunately, some are believe his outright lies. Even though his records says different. I hope Paxton wins. He has along memory and always seeks revenge. Just ask some of the former Judges on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

First, the election voting has not even started, much less turned in the final tally.

The pollsters said Hillary would win Texas. She didn't.

Twice the pollsters said Beto would win Texas. He didn't.

Unquestionably, this one will be closer and there is a real risk.

I will say, given the steady influx of people from the northeast and west coast into Texas, this state will flip at some point in the near future, if not this cycle. The trend has been very clear for several election cycles. Urban voters lean heavily D. Whoever wins the vote Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, and El Paso, will usually have enough votes to make any election close. The election in those five urban areas are close to outnumbering suburban and rural voters. R's take rural voters for granted most of the time until just before elections. Rural areas are being trashed with data centers, power lines, pipelines, and taking water from rural areas to supply urban needs.

Add in suburban women thinking Talarico is attractive and soft spoken, nothing abrasive, and the suburban NPR listening women voters likely will tip for D's in this election.

Cornyn was not A+ on gun ownership rights. The bill he led and pushed was the first major federal gun control bill in decades and included incentives for states to enact the seriously unconstitutional "red flag" laws. That is a F+ in my eyes. Cruz may be abrasive, but he understands there is no room for giving ground on gun control. D's will never be satisfied until the peasants are disarmed and the Marxist insurgency can move forward without risk to the ruling class.

Next, why are some R's campaigning against Paxton, which is the same for campaigning for Talarico? If R's lose this election, they can blame themselves. He may be a rotten person, but we are not voting for the high school prom queen.

Voting should be based on who will vote which way matters on policy questions, no personality, not who is cute, not because of hurt feelings for a preferred candidate not winning in the primary.

fwiw - I voted for Wesley Hunt in the primary and think he would have won the general election very easily. Cornyn should have gracefully retired and stayed out of the line up in the primary, the handwriting was on the wall, but the machine wanted to keep him.

Yep! Circular firing squads rarely help the squad

Whitehouse press secretary lasted just 5 days. Now she's out. Sorry, I didn't catch her name.
Yeah, you'd think someone would have done a better job vetting her. Trump probably didn't vet any deeper than her cleavage. She fit right in with the rest of the White House misfits.

He also didn’t want to have to kiss the ring with Trump to get his support in the election. He’s been able to operate much more independently since his announcement.

Good morning from Montana.

I'm looking at a post from 2018 where you were looking for a lefty Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum. I'm selling mine. My email is [redacted] in the event that you're still searching for a unicorn.

Best,

Kelly Palmer
