So the Santa Claus parade is political? Tough crowd.I did not say any of those orientations are political, but the act of a parade in itself can be considered political.
I am assuming being pro-palestine or having the opinion of being pro-palestine is a protect right under the Canadian constitution? But I am assuming the military marching in a pro-palestine parade would be in bad taste? Just like marching in a white pride parade would not be ideal?
Maybe those funds, or training could be better spent somewhere else. But it is your country, so have it.
Being pro-Palestinian is political in the sense you use it. Being Palestinian is a status. It's a subtle but important difference. Marching, in uniform, in either parade would be prohibited under our regs.
You make an important point about Freedom of Expression. While being pro-Palestinian is protected under our Constitution, many of those constitutional rights are waived or abrogated for members of our military, I expect it is the same for yours.
I don't really sweat the costs. I would bet the cost to have a bunch of our Coast Guard guys march in a local parade is less than the fuel costs for an air force fly over for a football game.
