Do you think your national military serves gay people as well as straight people? It seems like a simple question. If they do what is wrong with participating in their parade? The fallacy in your story is assuming that every person with some painful and incurable ailment wants to continue on with it. Unlike many of you, I don't think the decision is mine to make, it's up to the individual. I don't vote to force people to do things against their will like the far-right does.

I don’t think Judy’s story is unusual. Many areas of medicine have been advanced because there was no alternative.

People dying from cancer hasn't stopped us from developing new cancer treatments one bit. But it doesn't mean that we have to force people to suffer beyond their own limits. Some diseases are not curable right now. We can have both at the same time.

The suffering some diseases bring is horrific, and I honestly don’t wish that on anyone. But, I don’t think expediency opens doors for us like the motivation derived from compassion does.

Then you would need to convince the politicians and the electorate to dedicate large sums of money to such compassionate programs if you want my support for your ideas. Sadly they will not. The right wingers in the US have done everything they can to cut funding for such programs. All those on here screaming about being pro life, yet many die from lack of basic, affordable medical care every year here. They want to appear to care about others because it makes them feel better about themselves.

But when it comes time to put up the money, we all know they won't. They're too busy worrying about the billionaires buying another yacht. Or demanding another blank check for the military. I wish we lived in that perfect world, but we don't.
