Hey BIGEASY, I couldn’t care less what you call yourself. But I am serious about those recommendations for traveling to learn and gain perspective that may offer something different from the distorted views seen through the lens of the MSM, effects of brainwashing influencers in your life and your chosen surrounds in NC or wherever you live. I can assure you however your “world” is very tiny. The real world is big. That map is real and those areas are real and would provide ANYONE an idea of where to visit for easy, secure travel while expanding cultural education without being stuck in a tourist destination. I have in-laws in ILOILO on the SE end of Panay and am friends with two families from near Roxas on the north end of Panay. Also have several friends on Negros Island north of Dumaguete. For whatever reason, quite a number of European and Western ex-pats end up in Dumaguete which eases the travel fears for some. Personally, I fear wandering around most large US cities far more than wandering around any area in the Philippines, including one of largest slums in the world in Manila, no matter what the US State Department posts in their advisories.
I would also be very wary of the multitude of AI generated vlogs and mini-documentaries flooding any travel or ex-pat info search on the net now. For some reason, a huge number are being generated about the Philippines. Some are fairly accurate and some not at all. A couple of legit vloggers I’d watch are, SEFTV… Joseph Pasalo from Leyte. His videos are done in Waray-Tagalog but have English subtitles so are easy to follow. Another worthy vlogger is Kumander Daot (Anselm Plummer) a Brit who lives just north of Davao. His vlogs are done in accented Welsh English but he has learned fluent Bisaya which adds to the depth of his interactions as he travels the Philippines.
BIGEASY, I’d say chances are near zero you’d be interested in travel with cultural interaction to gain any diverse perspective outside your tiny, ego-centric bubble world, but some reading this might.
