The problem with Canada isn’t having to negotiate trade with the USA.
As predicted by Mr Turner, we have lost our industry, and we have sacrificed our energy development. Mr Turner thought it would be to the Americans, but it was to the Chinese and the green economy. At the time of this debate tariffs with the USA were in the range of 10-20%. The difference today is we have undermined our strength through decades of selling our industry off for cheap goods and state-mandated trends.
What’s interesting about that debate is Turner is a Liberal and Mulroney was the Conservative. Folks, there are no permanent friends or enemies, just permanent interests.
