Politics

Homicides have dropped 17.2% in the first half of 2026.
Deporting the riff-raff seems to be helping.
Millions more to go.
It's more important than ever to keep a Republican in the Whitehouse next election or all that deportation will be in vain.
Not quite. There are many more factors. Also, homocides have been dropping significantly since 2021.

So, you agree with DSA that Senate should be abolished?
Not necessarily, I don’t think national PAC’s should be financially involved in state politics, like the 17th says, unfortunately both parties are rabidly funded in state politics
To sway the elections .
A unpopular mayor here just wallet whipped her way into office again with national funding.
When a local politician receives 100’s of millions of dollars in a war chest, imo that should show there’s a problem somewhere?

Not Fox, but I've noticed a lot of his ads popping up on YouTube videos I've been watching.

Those ads seem to focus on "we're out of money, but please donate so we can flip Texas..."

My question is: "If you don't live in Texas, should you really be donating?

The seventeenth amendment is as large (if not larger) a mistake as the eighteenth, and should suffer a similar fate.

Whats particularly funny about those ads is he originally swore he wasnt taking any donations from big ticket donors or any other questionable sources.. because he was an average every day joe and wanted to be supported by average every day joes.. and swore he isnt like other politicians..

then he ran out of money and started taking million dollar contributions from PACs and mega donors.. he took $11M from Reid Hoffman.. who lives in CA... and brought in several additional million from silicon valley donors related to Hoffman..

in a nutshell, he's being the same snake hes always been... he professes he is a moderate.. then votes hard left.. he swears hes an "everyman" and will only take small donations from common people.. then takes $11M from a single billionare thats not even from TX.. etc..etc..

turns out he isnt different from any other politician at all lol...

You would think - but apparently his war chest is empty after the primary - and mainstream republicans with a sense of decency aren't rushing to refill it. He is by any measure a pretty miserable human being. To remind -

- During his 2023 state House impeachment trial, evidence emerged that Paxton had an extramarital affair with a former Senate staffer. Investigators alleged he used burner phones and an alias on ride-share apps to conceal the affair. It was further alleged that political donor Nate Paul (who seems to own a controlling interest in Paxton) hired Paxton's mistress in exchange for official favors from the Attorney General’s office.

- In mid-2025, his wife of 38 years, Texas State Senator Angela Paxton, filed for divorce over his adultery.

- In 2015, Paxton was indicted on felony securities fraud charges in Collin County related to soliciting investors for a tech startup without disclosing he was receiving a commission. The criminal case dragged on for nearly a decade before being resolved in 2024 through a pretrial diversion agreement (which required restitution, ethics training, and community service).

- In late 2020, top aides in Paxton’s office revolted and reported him to the FBI, accusing him of abuse of office, bribery, and improper influence on behalf of donor Nate Paul. These allegations culminated in his May 2023 impeachment by the Republican-led Texas House.

- In September 2022, Paxton faced criticism after a process server stated in court filings that Paxton fled his house and rushed into a truck driven by his wife to avoid being served a legal subpoena in a lawsuit regarding abortion rights. Paxton later claimed he left because he perceived the process server as a threat.

This is setting up to be a classic case where ideologues on the right, like the ideologues on the left, push a candidate through the primary that will have a difficult time winning simply because too large a slice of their own party stays home. With a Beta Boy like Talarico leading in Texas it merely underscores the stupidity of that selection. But we are where we are - our choices are a clearly integrity challenged, if not truly corrupt, republican; a grown deeply religious adolescent who loves trans children and shares his mother's credit card; or stay home. Many republicans will opt for the latter and are already doing so with their wallets.

I completely concur. I dont know Paxton personally.. but based on the evidence, he's a less than decent human.. and certainly not who I'd prefer representing me in DC.. but.. if given the choice between him and Talarico, I'll take him every day of the week... Its a shame Cornyn didnt listen closer to his constituents and play harder ball on 2A issues.. I think that would have kept him in office longer (not that he wasnt already in office a long time).. I think being seen as weak on 2A by the far right is ultimately what handed the baton to Paxton.. getting a little sideways with Abbott and Trump occasionally probably didnt help him much either..

Ive met Angela Paxton (his wife) a couple of times briefly.. she is the state rep for my district (Collin and part of Dallas County).. I dont really know her either.. but she seems to be a decent person.. and I've been reasonably pleased with her performance in the State Senate.. I had hoped she'd step up and go for a federal seat rather than her husband.. but... no luck...

You don't have a clue about how small the margins are in the restaurant industry. Between labor cost, food cost, paper goods cost, utilities cost, facility costs and maintenance, there's not a lot left over. I used to manage a company that owned five restaurants. If a walk-in cooler or freezer went down, it would cost thousands and wipe out any profit for weeks. Stuff breaks all the time and still labor was the highest cost. Increase labor costs much and you might as well shut the doors for good.
Do you know the difference between reading and reading comprehension? Because right now you are doing the former, but not the later. Try actually comprehending what was written, and the point of the exercise itself. The intent was not that businesses would take the increase entirely out of their profits. It would be passed along to consumers, just like all of their other price increases were/are.
I can tell you have never taken the risk of owning your own business or being a manager trying to make a profit to keep your job and those of your co-workers going and you have no idea how hard it is to balance everything.
You don't know shit about me, it's really quite amusing.
they are owned by lots of everyday middle class Americans through stock ownership in personal accounts and retirement accounts.
No not really. The top 1% owns 54% of that capital stock. The top 10% owns 90+%. Stop pimping yourself out for billionaires.
Should the company pay even higher wages and pay more taxes and make 1%? Ridiculous.
You're so stupid I cant even argue with you. You're not even capable of reading what was written. And understanding a basic math exercise.
I have no use for slackers that aren't willing to work hard to get ahead.
Everyone we are talking about in this example is working, usually more than full time. Again, you're too ignorant to even understand what we are talking about.
Why you defend and advocate for those people is beyond me.
Why you defend and kiss billionaire a$$ is beyond me. Do they send you an a$$ kissing dividend check every month?
The summation of life for able-bodied people is the summation of their decisions. I don't want to pay for their litany of bad decisions, one after another. They need to take accountability and deal with the position they have put THEMSELVES in.
What are you even talking about, you sound like you're sundowning again grandpa.
Been overseas much, Africa or south of the border? If you are able-bodied and can't make it in this country, you are a LOSER!
Big talk from an ignorant old man without any reading comprehension skills. How does the rich mans boot polish taste?

I wasn't disagreeing with numbers, graph above shows that. However, the drop is not due to deportations.
Don't waste your time on here. Facts and logic mean nothing. Brent doesn't understand the difference between correlation and causation. No amount of math will breakthrough to those lost to the cult of Trump.

I think it's the 19th amendment that should be repealed.

That’s about as smart as the USA importing 1.2 million screw worm infested cattle from Mexico on 8/24/2026 , because enforcement of a trade agreement Mexico demanded

I never said it was totally due to deportations, but it's a good bet it is helping .

Looks like you’ll be able to pick up some cheap cows if you want the genetics.

Possibly however it’s a crapshoot on line breading unless they release the records beforehand.
