Where did you get those numbers? By all accounts the world's doubling rate is in decades not even centuries.

And what countries are actively trying to reduce their population? Canadian govt is in a big panic because our population has stagnated ... even though the govt actually pays a monthly "baby bonus" for kids. Switzerland just a few weeks ago voted on a referendum to limit the country's population to ten million. It was defeated. China has now reversed its stand on govt mandated population control 180°. Now they are rewarding families that make new babies. As far as I know, Bangladesh is the only country that is actively pursuing a policy of at least encouraging population control. Kids in daycare are indoctrinated about birth control. But too little to late in that country.

AI answer

The global population is projected to peak at approximately 10.3 billion in the mid-2080s before beginning a slow, gradual decline. This shift is driven by a historic drop in global fertility rates, which have fallen below the replacement level of 2.1 births per woman in many regions.

Well ... let's see. India and Pakistan have acknowledged nuclear weapons and for a long time. North Korea has nuclear weapons. And Israel possess nuclear weapons but without acknowledging it has them. So why draw the line in the sand with Iran trying to develop nuclear weapons? Why should Israel be the only one to use them as deterent? Iran has a nuclear weapon possessing country right on its border and those two countries have historic (and current) tenuous relations. The thing that makes Iran different is ... one word ... OIL. This really has nothing to do with acquiring or developing nuclear weapons. It's all about controlling a country's resources ... like Venezuela's oil. Odd that in this the year of US's 250th anniversary repelling imperialism it has a president that is proudly pursuing imperialism.
You are right that it is about one word, but the word isn't oil. We have plenty in the western hemisphere. The word you're looking for is martyrdom, or Jihad. What other countries with nuclear weapons have been funding terror and trying to kill as many Americans and Israeli's as possible for decades? Here's another one word answer for you, NONE.

AND, I bet a lot of folks wish we would have stopped North Korea from obtaining a Nuke too! But I think kicking the can down the road and putting their heads in the sand has been a popular political sport for a long time. Trump don't seem to play that game.

Two of my regular news programs on the weekend are Fox News Sunday and the Journal Editorial Report. Thoughts from watching Fox News Sunday this morning...

Listening to Energy Secretary Chris Wright, it occurred to me that really truly the only way Iran's nuclear capability will actually be removed is through force. It has zero chance of happening through any sort of diplomacy, IMHO.

That was followed by an interview with Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon. He sounded incredibly rational in explaining Israel's position. I couldn't disagree with a single thing he said.

Quotes from the Institute for the Study of War seem to indicate they disagree heavily with the MOU and Trump's approach. That speaks volumes to me.

Never has Vance sounded more like a bearded younger mouthpiece.

The Iranian president said today that they absolutely will not give up their right to enrich uranium. And he referred to Trump as the "so called president." So exactly how much say-so do the Iranian officials meeting with Vance have? My guess? Zilch.

Trump on the Axios interview, about whether Israel will cease bombing: "They have a lot of respect for me. They will do as I say." Those were his exact words. His delusions of grandeur are truly stunning.

Iran has no intention of agreeing to anything whatsoever. Most of us here realized that a long time ago. It'd be nice if someone could convince Trump of that.

Time for another cup of coffee. To all the dads on here, Happy Father's Day. For me being a dad has been a blessing beyond anything I have deserved.

I agree about Trump's ego being out of control.

If Iran has no intention of agreeing to stop developing nukes. What is the answer? Stop them or allow them. I say stop them.

Happy Fathers Day to you too.

Yessir. I am in the stop them camp too. Put up or shut up.

I have to respectfully disagree with this assessment.

Why draw a line in the sand (no pun intended) now? Because you have to draw a line sometime. We (and here I refer to the West as well as others) didn't draw such a line and the result is that countries run by lunatics ended up with nuclear weapons. And this has emboldened other lunatics (including the mullahs who run Iran) to want the same. Every mad dictator wants what Kim Jong Un has - protection. The fact that Western Leaders made mistakes in the past isn't a reason to keep making them.

As to one of your particular questions - Israel has nuclear weapons (if it indeed does) because it needs a deterrent, given the neighbourhood in which it lives. Since the founding of the state of Israel, it has never started a war against its neighbours (but it's finished a lot). Not one of its neighbours can make the same claim with respect to Israel.

Unless you're Neville Chamberlin, appeasement might strike you as too easy of an answer to too complicated a question.

So what exactly did the USA get out of this war? People keep saying Iran militarily was destroyed and yet they can close the SOH. Doesn't sound like they were disarmed to me. They still supposedly have drones and missiles.

Does a regional bully have a nuclear ability within the next X years?

Has Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthi’s, etc ability to be a regional menace been diminished?

Are ships sailing through the SoH now?

Is there internal turmoil among the 31 autonomous IRGC leaders?

Is there turmoil between the Ayatollahs and IRGC?

Has a regime that is responsible for a couple thousand American deaths in the past 45 years been bloodied and may have second thoughts in trying it again?

This list is off the top of my head and I am sure it could go on with a bit of thought.

Did Trump get all he wanted. Definitely not. Is America in a better position now regarding Iran than they were six months ago. Yes. Can things change next week. Yes.

Intent. Iran would welcome destruction if they can eradicate Israel. So, anyone else having nuclear weapons is NOT a deterrent for Iranian mullahs. Folks that use children as suicide bombers will have no compunction about first use of nuclear weapons as long as they take their enemies with them.

Got my Fathers Day present. Yea it’s an American type gift.

The USA has labelled both Canada and the EU as threats to their "National Security" in order to justify new duties declared by their military Commander-in-Chief on the international trade of steel and aluminum. So I suggest that USA made products such as firearms and ammunition should be sold exclusively within the USA so Canada and Europe can help our esteemed neighbour defend themselves and improve their national security. Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that Canadians and Europeans should make do with their own products exclusively. For all our AfricaHunting friends in Canada, Europe, Africa and elsewhere, please don't buy any American made products. Lets's support the USA in their concern. One can never be too careful when there are evil guys to deal with, and it is our duty to help, as always.
The first thing I want to tell you is if you're basing all of this opinion on one thing someone like Trump said then you either wear your feelings on your shoulder and take seriously something you shouldn't because it's coming from an idiot or you're just looking for a reason to talk bad about america. But I'm not here to condemn you I'm just retorting at you the same vein which you so blatantly made known your opinion of my country.

BUT! I understand what you're saying. And I really am sure nobody's going to read what I'm writing here but if the OP will listen to me on this occasion I disagree and yet I agree and I also have my own opinion to proffer.
I do not think American products should only be sold in America because I think it would be doing the world a disservice by keeping exotic or what is exotic to them things away from them. I want to buy European products, like CZ. Listen to what you're saying but also suggest that if we were only to sell American firearms in America then Europe and Canada might start doing the same thing. I think the firearm trade needs to be sold all over the world and also I don't think the current administration should have banned any Russian ammunition. Do you know how hard it is for me to get the 203 grain brown bear 7.62x54 mm r ammo for my mosin nagant? It's almost impossible.

I think the USA and Canada should be about as close as two countries could get. I understand that Canadians do not like Americans, or rather it's what we're told. I've never met that many Canadians except two French girls from Quebec and I wasn't really interested in politics back then if you know what I mean lol. But I understand that Trump while he has done a very good thing for this country by expelling the illegal immigrants that don't need to be here he is also done some weird stuff on his own.

I'll make my reply short. I don't want any in between Canada and america. I could give a damn less about Mexico and if you want me to tell you the truth about it I think they should send cruise missiles to all the cartel cocaine factories meth factories fentanyl factories and strongholds until they are nothing but ashes. But that's just me. Too bad there's too much money being made on it that they'll never do that.

You said it would be good for Canada to improve its national security well...I mean... Is Canada really concerned with anyone attacking it? Don't think for a minute that if someone attacked Canada the United States wouldn't be right there to help.

And as far as Europe and it's national security LOL I think national security is is far down on the list that Europe needs to worry about. Or rather the type of national security that Europe needs to worry about is almost too late to worry about. Europe needs to get all of The unwanted Muslim and North African immigrants out. They should spare no expense, make no excuses, and not stop until every single radical Muslim scumbag or skinny Somalian bitch is back in its own country. I've seen the videos on Instagram and YouTube before they've been cut off I know what's going on in some of the streets of Europe and there's no one to blame but they weak European politicians and they even weaker liberal European young ppl.
I propose this exact thing to a French girl I was talking to on an international website and the first thing she did was call me a racist. And although I did not argue with her once she said that I knew that her brain was gone or rather may not have ever existed. You can't argue with someone that's either brainwashed or too stupid to understand what you're saying.
I listen to a imam of Islam sit there on interview and say what Europe did was call the dregs of the Muslim world, the elements of Muslim society that they wanted to isolate in prison or keep away from the regular people were what ended up in Europe. Poor uneducated loafs. And none of this was what I said it's what a Muslim imam said on tv.
Sometimes the truth hurts.

And I don't care who calls me a racist, because I'm not, and they don't know me or what I believe. All they are is Democrats that can't do anything but call people names or spout things that they've heard other people spout after watching CNN.

Do you think I'm a trump supporter? Honestly I like Trump until he bitched up to Israel and now I think he's just another set of politician like all the other ones. I mean I already knew he was a greedy slimy lying politician but I thought he might be a little bit better than the last one.
But now I'm not so fond of trump. I do not think the whole of Persian culture should be wiped off the Earth like that idiot said because the Persians are an Indo-European speaking people which means they are more closely related to Europeans than they are Arabs or any other Middle Eastern race. They are genetically linguistically and culturally more like the Western peoples of Europe and America then they are peoples of The Middle east. If you don't believe me then just look it up.

So what you're saying of basically is that because of some stupid stuff Trump said you think that it's cool to punish the American public? Do you not understand that you are the Canadian public and if the rest of the world had some beef against one of your politicians for saying something stupid that you would be the one to suffer? And you think that's good?

I have a hard time believing you already know this but it is the public that pays for the stupid words of the politicians and the stupid actions of the politicians, not the politicians. So remember when you're spreading your opinion about how nobody should buy American products remember who you're hurting dude: someone just like you.

But if you really really don't want to buy American products it's no skin off my teeth cuz we don't need your money we have enough people and products in our own country to support ourselves. And although I will go along with boycotting Canadian products the way you would boycott American products, I will not ever stop wanting to purchase European products.

And my years I've learned where there's a will there's a way and money talks BS walks.
If I have to go to Europe to buy a CZ 550 and 416 Rigby then I will but I will have one.

I'm only offering my opinion here and because you are a grown man I expect you to be able to take anything I say and with your wit retort against me if you believe something I have said is out of line. I have not ever here disrespected you or your beliefs only giving you my opinion on them. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. I just don't agree that country should shut down selling firearms to other countries. There's nowhere in America I can get an a rifle that is equivalent to a CZ 550 Euro in 416 Rigby, unless I spent twice what it's worth on gunbroker. Which I will do if I have to.

But if you're a canadian, and you don't understand that what Trump says means nothing about what we believe or want in America and you have formulated this opinion that Canada shouldn't deal with America then write a letter to your president and if Canada ends up not dealing with America I assure you Canada will be fine and America will not miss a beat.

I do trust that you will have a good week and it has been my pleasure sharing opinions with you.

Sir I'd be awfully happy if I could get a Ruger African in 416 Ruger anytime soon. They just seem to be so elusive or out of stock that they just can't be found. All I'm working with to go to Africa with is a power 1500 and 375 Ruger that I picked up for $330 brand new in 2010.
and to get back on subject, I maintain Bill Ruger set a new standard for "production" rifles with the No 1, and the RSM....
a real pity that his Magnum action is no more ....

@blackpowder12bore : you are replying to messages from 8 years ago.
You know sir I don't know what to do right now because I've never met a legend before!!! My first reaction would be to do what you say lol. I didn't know I was listening to somebody from 12 years ago but if you were as bored as I was right now you'd probably be doing the same thing even if it was from 12 years ago

You mean Bill ruger's Magnum action? I was under the impression that the Ruger 77 African was a magnum action? Please correct me if I am wrong or otherwise enlighten me

BP12bore, you are talking to yourself now. Meds, drugs or alcohol?

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
